I’m no structural engineer but that didn’t look like a normal collapse of a building, it looked more like it fell into a hole?
Awful!!

We don’t know the full story but I read a report that cranes had been loading heavy equipment onto the roof recently. Looking at the bottom of the building there are some very slender and vulnerable pillars with a large open space behind. My suspicions would begin there.the rest of the building will have to be demolished I would have thought.Onelife wrote: 25 Jun 2021, 09:40I’m no structural engineer but that didn’t look like a normal collapse of a building, it looked more like it fell into a hole?

Terrible for the poor people who were trapped and crushed in their sleep.

Had I read further down Stephen’s post the report said the building was build on wetlands and inspections had revealed that the building had been sinking for the last few decades…the heavy loads placed on top of the building will no doubt have exacerbated this problem.

Shoddy Mexican build wouldn't have helped either ... just saying.
