Marriage, tax system and transferable allowances

Unread post by Silver_Shiney »

Dear fellow forumeers

The Budget takes place in less than a week, on 20 March 2013.

This provides the Government with what is probably its last opportunity to honour its manifesto and Coalition Agreement commitment to recognise marriage in the tax system through transferable allowances.

Making the changes necessary to introduce the policy – such as changes to IT systems – could take more than a year. Therefore the Government must take action in this Budget to be confident that the policy can be up and running before the next General Election in two year's time. If they leave it until the Budget in 2014 it may be too late.

With this in mind I am writing to ask you to take time in the next couple of days to write to the Prime Minister. Please ask him to use the 2013 Budget to introduce transferable allowances. This will ensure that preparation for the implementation of transferable allowances can begin now in order for the policy to be up and running before the next election.

Please have a look at http://www.care.org.uk/marriagetaxpolic ... mail140313

If you wish to use this, please delete the last paragraph if it does not apply to you.

Thank you.
Alan

There is no chance of it happening because the Blibberal Democrats are against it.
