School Prizes
Were you an achiever or an underachiever…. what prizes/awards did you gain at school?

Re: School Prizes
I got a certificate for coming 3rd in the sack race - my only sporting achievement at primary school.
I was taught to be cautious

Re: School Prizes
I was Kent boxing champion for three consecutive years at three different weights.
Failed in the national quarter finals against the same lad every year. He went on to pro.
I also played football to a pretty good standard as an adult.
I played right up to my early forties in the South London veterans league.
I’m paying for it all now, physically
I achieved nothing academically at school.
It was little more than a holding centre until you went to work.
I consider that I became educated after leaving school through my own endeavours.

Wow! Barney, that’s some achievement, especially at three different weights…I’ve just informed Stephen that you are my new best mate on the forum…. should he wish to throw anymore abuse at me.
As you have expanded the topic
I’ve played table tennis at county level, I also played football for Forest of Arden…mainly on the subs bench but I did get a few matches under my boots.

Re: School Prizes
I achieved Nothing,Nowt, Zilch academically. I bunked off a lot of the last year of school.
Like Barney, everything I learned since was at the University of Life. Schools of hard knocks.
When I was trucking around Europe,I learned German from listening to the forces radio, I then went to a private tutor for a couple of years and got a qualification.
I was average at Football and Cricket but was quite good at Badminton.
And I was brilliant at playing the nasty bastard when I was on the Negotiator training team.

Re: School Prizes
I was rubbish at all sports. My only achievement was coming third in the breast stroke race at our school swimming gala. And I only achieved that because two others who completed the distance before me were disqualified for not doing the turns properly. I think there were 6 of us in the race!

Does a 25ft swimming certificate count.

Only if you are going up a waterfall, not as in your case, down it.

Re: School Prizes
I (well, my entire class) were entered every year in a Cadbury's chocolate essay competition. If remember rightly we had to hear all about how chocolate was made, then write it all up.
I got a certificate the second time ( and a box of miniatures).
