Dried Dog Food

I’ve just ran out of dried dog food and whilst my dog (lily) did eat it I can’t say she looked as if she really enjoying it, so I’m looking to try her on something different…I did think about Chappie but then looked at the price. So, if any of you know of a good nutritious dried dog food that isn’t going to break the bank then I would appreciate your suggestions…. Early replies would be appreciated as poor Lily hasn’t eaten for two days and she is losing weight fast.

Hi Sir Merv, I looked at Harringtons yesterday in Tesco’s ….it came in at about £25 for a 15kg bag, which is £10 cheaper than Chappie….read a few reviews which were a bit mixed but its an option, Thanks.

P’s would you mind trying some more so you can give me a more definitive answer?

Can not be doing with fussy dogs. Shove something under it's nose, if it's hungry it will eat it.
By the way, I don't have a dog or a cat.

Well, I’ve had to come to a decision, the poor little thing can hardly stand. I’ve decided to go with "Chappie" only because I’ve docked a fiver out of my wife’s hairdressing money…she did complain but I told her to put it in a ponytail if it gets down to her knees.

It’s amazing how much it costs to keep a dog theses’ days…We have dog insurance that comes in at £28 per month, dog food and treats £25 pm…annually jabs £51 per year. Thankfully my sister baby sits for us, otherwise I would have to take David’s advice…or, further reduce my wife’s housekeeping money….Right I’m just off out to the races…wish me luck

Does your sister want to baby sit for us too? That's our biggest cost. We have a brilliant local kennels with all mod cons, run by one of the veterinary nurses from our practice and her husband. Coco loves it there and we leave her with absolute confidence. But it costs £18 a night. Some people round here would expect all inclusive at a nice hotel for that! I may have to stop taking Trish on holiday.

It does amaze me the variety of pet food and the descriptions on how they will enjoy the expensive food, to even more in the chiller cabnets. Unbelievable.

Merv, the kennels we use for our dog cost £25 per night you're getting a bargain I don't mind though as she recognises where she's going and goes in happy. We have used them for years and they have an excellent reputation.

We had four Collies at one stage… then went on an eighteen day cruise…they kennelled them all together but the bill still came to just under £300 (that was over 15 years ago)

Yes you're right. Things round here are cheaper than many places. But we felt the pinch when the kennels we used to go to for 34 years retired. They only charged £10 a night but were definitely not in the same 5* league as the present one. It's worth every penny and as soon as Coco is out of the car she's off, standing by the gate to get in, and not even a glance back. Our cattery in £9 a night.
