I took one apart the other day, and he was most apologetic cos 'your number didn't show up as TPS on our database, I'll put it there right away!'

Had a similar problem as Jan

My late wife had a small on line account with ING now in the Barclay circle

Betty's executors have repeatedly informed Barclay's of the situation . . . .

. . . but I still get mail/phone calls from Barclay re Betty's account

It does upset me so much

after my father died, my mother continued to get letters and calls from the council about his continuing care package. He died in one of their care homes....

Mother was deeply distressed, I took them apart....

I still get calls at my business asking to speak to John, my business partner. One even insisted that John had asked him to call us back in a few months' time so I asked him if he was absolutely certain that it was John that he had spoken to and he was adamant that it was. John died in August 2003.

In that case, they've got no case against you for calling them brassnecked liars.

I dragged it out for as long as I could and I gave him several opportunities to change his story but he definitely insisted that John had spoken to him a few months before. He went very quiet when I told him that John had died several years before.

It makes one tempted to ask if the caller is related to Jacob Marley... but the humour would be wasted on such as those

When we returned to England we were given a BTtelephone number which was once a sunbed parlour. For two years we received calls from people wishing to book a sunbed. Each time we explained the sunbed parlour was no more and this was now a residential number.

However you would not believe how many people argued that this was the sunbed number irrespective of whatwe said. In the end I used to book them a time for their suntan top up. We never heardfrom them again, not even to complain.

Our first number here used to belong to Dolphin Showers and we had no end of phone calls from angry customers complaining about the poor quality. In the end, I looked them up in the phone book to tell them to do something about it. The lady I spoke to said she was fed up getting complaints about Dolphin Showers on her private number....
