I know what you mean, Graham. A lass I used to work with thought it was funny that I carried a small sewing kit in my briefcase.... until a strategically important button fell off her blouse...

MOB might be right Jenny, but The Old Granary on the quay at Wareham has a good reputation, and much closer than Poole.JenniC wrote:At the risk of high jacking this thread, we are in Dorset on 8 Sept and need somewhere really nice for a meal. We are staying at Lulworth Cove, but don't mind a 20 min or so drive.... recommendations please.

I think it is more a traditional pub than a specialist restaurant pub, Although I haven't been in there for several years now.Silver_Shiney wrote:Does anyone know what the Shoulder of Mutton is like these days (on the Ringwood Road, Poole side of Bear Cross)?

The rain was so heavy last night, I could feel every drop hitting through hi-vis leggings, padded leggings and trousers.

Golf - a game invented by the Scots, a race who think that music comes from bagpipes...

Re: How is your Summer ?
We have had some much needed rain in the last couple of hours .. we were expecting it and I guess most of the UK will see some if they haven't already.
I haven't seen rain like this in a while, our fish/garden pond was a good 6" down .. it is now running over onto the garden, the water butts are full
AND a big problem in the conservatory
we have water pouring in through the box guttering the rain is so heavy it just can't cope with it, of course Mr DQ wasn't here when it started so I've had all the mopping up but its all sorted now and I just have a few buckets along the length of the guttering to catch any more water, thank goodness the guttering was all cleaned out a few weeks ago otherwise it could have been much worse.
Oh well .. nothing we can do about it so I've just poured myself a very large Red .. Cheers !!!

Re: How is your Summer ?
We went to Cowes this afternoon and late afternoon it came on to rain quite heavily. However, from the shelter of the beer tent on Cowes Haven Marina we were able to see Arcadia, an MSC ship and then I think it was Oriana sail past in the rain. We were just thinking of heading home when there was the almighty roar of a Typhoon from the display team doing an incredible display - Wow, that is something else to watch. After the Typhoon display ended, the Red Arrows then carried out their display. By this time we were soaked to the skin and cold so didn't stay for the fireworks - is that the end of our summer?
