Dear Stephen

Not wishing to take over your post, but, like Jo we have been the same for a few years. Jo and I have helped each other in whatever way we could. Fortunately we live in the same Town.

Also, not forgetting my dear friend Jay.

You have had far too much to cope with and now your added worry. I truly hope all is well and I'll be thinking of you.

I haven't posted on here for a few months because I am suffering (not physical) because of all the worries. I know my treatment is helping (although I sometimes wonder).

Take care.

Hope all goes well for you also Delboy.

Firstly - all good wishes for you

Secondly, now you may be getting over the shock, get working on it. Don't be passive - the days when the NHS took your hand and led you through are gone. It's every man for himself. I'm afraid the sharp-elbowed get the best (and fastest) treatment. So - PUSH - every flippin' day if you have to. Once in for treatment I'm sure it will be the best

Look into how you can speed things. Can you get a private consultation to get yourself on a surgery list? Can you afford private treatment? .... That's all very matter of fact now and your local private hospital would be able to give you a good estimate

Thirdly - positivity helps in every way. You seem to have that is spades, so, positively, get well soonest!

'Can I afford private treatment'..........I would have to speak to my financial advisor (er in doors). But I'm not panicking yet, and providing I don't have to wait too long I'm happy with the NHS. My initial consultation was at a private hospital but as an NHS patient. I'm familiar with this hospital and it is nearer to us so hopefully through the choose and book system I can get back in there with the next consultant. And looking at the hospital consultant list for both the private and NHS hospital they appear to work at both. Anyway we shall see.

I know one things for sure, no bu99er is getting their hands on the litre bottle of Jameson I was given this week

All the best to you Jean.

I dunno it's beginning to get like a consulting room on here. Come on then, let Dr Finlay hear it, anyone else with medical woes :)

My trouble is, whenever I get told a medical term I'm straight on the internet checking it out, which is probably not the best thing to do, but that's me. And your never sure if what you've found is correct. You either find something that sounds like your gong to be chopped up into a thousand bits or your a gonna :wtf:

Now just hold on a minute - there is nothing in your job description that says you are entitled to sick leave so just make sure whatever needs doing gets done in your own time

Seriously - it sounds as if things have been found at an early stage and that it will all work out OK

It's handy having someone in the trade so to speak.

Just had a phone call from my wife who is a ward manager/Matron at our local community hospital. She contacted the secretary of urology who she knows at our main hospital and it was confirmed they have received the referral letter and hopefully the multidisciplinary team (MDT) will review it on Tuesday when they meet to discuss cases. Fingers crossed

I've just heard tonight that my mum's been taken into hospital vomitting faeces with a suspected aortic aneurism. Seems unlikley that she's going to be able to on our cruise in October (which she made me promise we would still go on no matter what). She's almost certainly going to have an operation of some sort, so with her warfarin and blood problems, that's going to be interesting for the surgeon...

SS. This kind of news is always such a shock. I have visited a colleague today who is 42 and seriously ill with a bleed in the brain. Doctors talk very positively about good results from these kind of things so let us hope there is some good news for you too.

Best wishes .

Oh no, Shiney, what an awful shock for you. Sending prayers and best wishes that she has a speedy recovery. She is right you must still have your cruise and remember you can always book a last minute deal when she has recovered for you all.

Hi Alan,

Hang on in there and think positive thoughts - I'll be thinking of you. You'll know a lot more about the situation shortly, and I sincerely hope it's going to be hopeful news.

Gosh, Shiney. just caught up with all this. All the very best. Hope the hospital " get on" with it. The waiting is the worst part.
