I see Wayne Rooney has been appointed England captain. To me it shows how far we have slumped if that's the most inspirational figure we can come up with. Hardly a good role model as a player let alone as captain.

To be fair, Wayne is deffo marginally more inspirational and a far better role model than, say, Joey Barton for example ...

Had it been left to me I would have debated whether he would get into the team, let alone have such responsibility. Judging by the low expected attendance (even at only £20 a ticket) there are a good many who feel exactly the same after the fiasco that was Brazil. I get the feeling with Rooney he's not that bothered about England - no great passion, no great desire, total indifference. I'm no fan of John Terry but at least he looked as if he cared.

I have very little interest in the England set-up these days. The players at that level are so far removed from reality and have been consistent in their ability to disappoint over the last few years.

The Terriers have an easy game today - away to Watford. A repeat of last season's 4-1 win at down there would be welcome....







... but I won't be betting on it!

Agree with you Romig a repeat of last seasons score would be excellent, looks as though we won't be unveiling a new manager before the transfer deadline, however I would be more than happy to see Lillis given an extended run in charge.

As regards the England captain there are very few other regular starters that spring to mind, I can only think of Jagielka as a possibility.

Can't rule it out in this League but the Hornets are still sore about that 4:1 drubbing and will be keen to reverse that particular score line, I wish you well ... but not that well

As I recall, Watford didn't have much to play for, that day. Things may be different today. The resigning of Deeney is a great result for Watford - he looked extremely dangerous when I saw him.

From what I heard, we were doing well to hold on at times in the first half. Disappointed that when we managed to equalise, we lost another goal fairly quickly after, and that we couldn't get something from the game after Watford went down to 10 men.

Sometime Sunday evening the Club announced the resignation of their Manager Beppe Sannino

So ... will be getting Mr Zola back, a high profile English Manager ( perhaps a certain Mr Moyes ) or another unknown Italian feller

I hope you're wrong but Wikipedia already shows him as our manager, he did OK in league 1 but not in the Championship, which is where we would hope to stay. I would have preferred to see Mark Lillis given an exyended period as caretaker to see if he could develop into the job full time.
