Re: Football 2014/15
I see Wayne Rooney has been appointed England captain. To me it shows how far we have slumped if that's the most inspirational figure we can come up with. Hardly a good role model as a player let alone as captain.

Re: Football 2014/15
To be fair, Wayne is deffo marginally more inspirational and a far better role model than, say, Joey Barton for example ...

Re: Football 2014/15
That's a very 'cup half full' comment Mob. It could have been worse.
Had it been left to me I would have debated whether he would get into the team, let alone have such responsibility. Judging by the low expected attendance (even at only £20 a ticket) there are a good many who feel exactly the same after the fiasco that was Brazil. I get the feeling with Rooney he's not that bothered about England - no great passion, no great desire, total indifference. I'm no fan of John Terry but at least he looked as if he cared.

Re: Football 2014/15
I have very little interest in the England set-up these days. The players at that level are so far removed from reality and have been consistent in their ability to disappoint over the last few years.
The Terriers have an easy game today - away to Watford. A repeat of last season's 4-1 win at down there would be welcome....
... but I won't be betting on it!
Good luck to all "our" teams today (apart from Moby's of course)

Re: Football 2014/15
Agree with you Romig a repeat of last seasons score would be excellent, looks as though we won't be unveiling a new manager before the transfer deadline, however I would be more than happy to see Lillis given an extended run in charge.
As regards the England captain there are very few other regular starters that spring to mind, I can only think of Jagielka as a possibility.

Can't rule it out in this League but the Hornets are still sore about that 4:1 drubbing and will be keen to reverse that particular score line, I wish you well ... but not that welltowny44 wrote:Agree with you Romig a repeat of last seasons score would be excellent ....

As I recall, Watford didn't have much to play for, that day. Things may be different today. The resigning of Deeney is a great result for Watford - he looked extremely dangerous when I saw him.Manoverboard wrote:Romig1 wrote:... The Terriers have an easy game today - away to Watford. Re: Football 2014/15
Seems we edged an exciting game 4:2 with both sides playing their part in end to end action ...

Re: Football 2014/15
From what I heard, we were doing well to hold on at times in the first half. Disappointed that when we managed to equalise, we lost another goal fairly quickly after, and that we couldn't get something from the game after Watford went down to 10 men.Manoverboard wrote:Seems we edged an exciting game 4:2 with both sides playing their part in end to end action ...

Oh! the joy of a comfortable home win.
That was about an easy 2-0 as you can get.
Gills played some lovely stuff (for a change) and our strikers ran them ragged.
A nice drive home with a grin on me face

So, it's Leicester ( Tin Pot ) City 1 : 1 Arsenal
ps ... Wenger blames the Foxes' tactics in spite of having 70% possession, 30 shots and 10 corners
Well played OBF

Re: Football 2014/15
There have been a few whispers regarding unrest in the Hornet's dressing room, highlighted recently by ex Fox Lloyd Dyer ironically.
Sometime Sunday evening the Club announced the resignation of their Manager Beppe Sannino
So ... will be getting Mr Zola back, a high profile English Manager ( perhaps a certain Mr Moyes ) or another unknown Italian feller

Hope this Mark Hudson guy we have signed from Cardiff can help stop our defence from leaking goals, then all we need is for the midfield to provide our forwards with goal scoring opportunities.

Did ok at Charlton for quite a while, until new owner came in.
You could have done a lot worse. A very steady Eddie.

I hope you're wrong but Wikipedia already shows him as our manager, he did OK in league 1 but not in the Championship, which is where we would hope to stay. I would have preferred to see Mark Lillis given an exyended period as caretaker to see if he could develop into the job full time.barney wrote:Chris Powell being announced today for the Terriers

I'll give him a chance, as I'm sure almost all supporters will do.towny44 wrote:I hope you're wrong but Wikipedia already shows him as our manager, he did OK in league 1 but not in the Championship, which is where we would hope to stay. He seems to be a very decent bloke, which is a start, at least
