Every year we get the promise of a heatwave from the forecasters. I am still waiting for them to get this long range forecast right.
Before long there could be a few good deals on barbecues.

We must be lucky here we haven't had the heating on since early April although we did notice a drop in temperature last week. One thing about being retired is that you can take advantage of the good weather when it arrives. When we were both at work we were often moaning that the summer had been terrible but we like others would miss a lot of the nice days by being stuck inside at work.
How many times have we all said "bloody marvellous its been glorious all week and the forecast for the weekend is rain.

Our garden has looked great this year, just the right amount of sun and rain for growing conditions so I'm not complaining, but I bet the farmers find something to moan about.

One thing I have noticed is that we have not seen a single wasp this summer, plenty of bees and butterflies but no wasps has anyone else noticed this ?.

A few weeks ago I was out in the garden and heard a really loud buzzing noise and my neighbour shouting to his wife to close the windows - when I turned around there was a huge black cloud hovering over the garden wall - I ran into the house and closed the patio doors - it turned out to be a swarm of wasps - someone must have disturbed a nest nearby - frightened the life out of me. They disappeared after a few minutes but I didn't venture back into the garden for ages. I haven't noticed many single wasps either Ray - normally when the doors and windows are open you get a few flying in but I shudder still thinking about that swarm
