Last night had nothing to do with talent, singing or ability - it was all about ratings. Yes I do believe that the voting is rigged, when it suits their purpose.
This year X Factor is loosing out big style in the ratings war with Strictly and doing something like this will, in Simon's opinion, get people interested and back watching - and voting.
I feel sorry for the youngsters who are being used as pawns in a much bigger game.

I shan't bother watching it after this finishes. They spend far too long at the start of the show weeding out all the week singers which goes on for weeks and bores me to death, and then eliminate multiple contestants just so they can finish for the finarly in time for Christmas.

I saw the end of this while I was waiting for Downton Abbey, and it reminded me why I no longer watch this show.
All the weeping from the contestants, and the faux drama from the judges.
