They still have massive debts - unless they have parents with VERY deep pockets!

Not necessarily - my daughter didn't have any debts after her nursing training/degree course (and I have very shallow pockets and extremely short arms.... )

Maybe the dozens and dozens of Drs we know have been extravagant then. Most if them had around £50,000 worth if debt by the end of their courses.

They drink a lot.

The NHS will never have enough money - because it reverses the old proverb. In the NHS invention is the mother of necessity. As soon as a new treatment/procedure/diagnostic test is invented it is necessary to provide it. Added to which we have an increasing - not to mention ageing - population - so more demand for existing services. without someone inventing any new ones!

Parts of the NHS need to work seven days a week like everyone else, including GPs. If working over seven days is good for everyone it should be good for them.

That's all very well in theory, but many areas are struggling to recruit/retain enough staff to run a 5 day a week service, let alone 7.

That would help in certain areas, though in quality of service - not quantity.
