So after almost 50 yrs working....25+ for the Prison Service I face my last shift tomorrow, what a strange feeling donning my uniform for the last time...Oh well, no more Porridge.

Enjoy it Screwy. Don't envy the job you've done so you've earned some porridge free leisure.

It was a fantastic feeling for me handing back my uniform and driving out the gates for the last time after 22 years. Enjoy your new-found freedom, mate!

Re: Retirement
Hope you have a long, happy and prosperous retirement Screwy, its 16 years now since I took the early bath, I was fortunate that for the last 6-9 months my workload gradually diminished and my working days reduced, so in the end I never really noticed the change.

There's a repeat / repeat / repeat series on TV called ' Porridge ' ... you will have plenty of time to watch it if you miss the old place.
I didn't and I hope you don't either
