Well its May and she says we have got to make Brexit work, I hope for once we have a Tory leader and P.M. that is true to their word.

Immediately after world war two we were a snippet away from bankruptcy and the USA did F/A to help us but we bounced back and made Britain great again.
We are nowhere near that state at the moment and despite Obama saying we will go to the back of the que and EU member states turning their noses up at us we will make this work we will make Britain great again and all the dummies that were spit out will be swept away.

As we say in Nottingham gerronweit.

At last some good news in the sorry saga. We are going to get someone who will work at the job and not live on soundbites or buffoonery.. as I was told after the brexit result "suck it up". So suck it up Leadsom and UKIP supporters. If UKIP and the Tory right can rabbit on about Europe for 40 years after the previous referendum result, we so called 'losers' are entitled to rabbit on now.

Raybo; you are right, we were nearly bankrupt, but the Atlee government managed to introduce the NHS and to nationalise the ailing railways, mines, and electricity generating companies. The USA only helped us when they needed our support for the Korean war and we told them sorry we can't afford it. I admire that Atlee governmnt because while it prescribed some bitter pills for the the UK, it laid the foundations for our post war recovery. I for one was a major beneficiary and I am grateful to them.

Theresa May says Brexit means brexit, I am much more confident that she and her group can make it work than I was with the prospect of Boris, Gove or Leadsom.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the pound and the markets after today's news. Mrs May has certainly cleared up one or two misnomers - Brexit means Brexit and there will be no second referendum. If she does what she says I will be very happy, that is IF she does what she says. Only time will tell.

After Mr Obama told us before the referendum we would go to the back of the queue, guess what? After the referendum he says we won't!! Well dilly ding, dilly dong!! What do you make of that? As for the EU they are just having a continental strop because they can see themselves all having to put their hands deeper into their greedy little pockets to make up what UK would normally be paying. It's all good news.

I pointed out elsewhere that Boeing have just signed an order, which will create 2.000 jobs over here. It was rightly pointed out that the purchase of some maritime reconnaissance aircraft may have had some bearing on that, but the Yanks could just have easily demanded that servicing could have been done over there. The fact remains, many specialised jobs are being created, the expensive infrastructure at Lossiemouth will be put to use, and the additional personnel will boost the local economy (so stick that in your sporran, McKrankie)

It does make you wonder about some people's grasp of British politics. Just heard on the news when they were interviewing the "public" about Theresa May becoming PM and one woman said that as we voted to come out of the EU then Nigel Farage should be PM, two slight problems there - he is not in the Conservative Party and probably more salient he is not an MP!

That referendum was an embarrassment to the word 'democracy'.
We had one party that seemed to go into hiding (Labour) and then the political leaders that were present all lied through their teeth which meant people went into the election totally ignorant of what it was they were ultimately voting for. (5 minutes on youtube will show you the level of ignorance that some people exhibited).

At least with May I think she will not pander to either side but will try to find a path to appease both the in and out sides. However, given comments coming out from various legal groups it is possible this whole thing could be tied up in legislation for many years - that needs to be sorted out first.

I think we should scrap democracy for the masses and just let this forum decide. We got it right on the brexit result and the tory leader. What should we poll on next?

The brand new revamp, again, of the P&O loyalty club; which option will it be?

However, that would not be democratic as not everyone has received the questionnaire

I remember Margaret Thatcher buying a new property while she was still PM so that was probably with her bearing in mind she wouldn't always be in Number 10.

I know for a fact that John Major kept his family home in Cambridge when he moved into Number 10 as a friend of ours lived on the same road.
