If you believed all the bad news on the Beeb life would not be worth living, fortunately their news, weather and political pundits all operate on the glass half empty principle whereas mine is always half full, with a bottle ready to top it up when needed.

The bad news on "the news" is actually a good sign. What makes news is stuff which is unusual. Coastal towns not flooded isn't news. A flood is. And so on.
