Firstly - there is nothing perverse in bring up a rear end.
Secondly - what's all this about a red pen???
Thirdly - Graham - now see what you've started? They all want a red pen, don't like my rear end - and I'm worried about where they are going to put the red pen!!!!!!
Em (not so much a rear end, more a panto horse!)

Ah Giant, are you pining for old Degsy? He is posting somewhere, I read it on here, but I don't know which site (mind you that was a couple of weeks ago so he could be banned now)

Jan, where H K Pooey is concerned, we tend to use the word "special" rather than "barking mad". It helps to stop her kicking-off...again!Jan Rosser wrote:That's what I like about this forum a bunch of good natured nutters having a laugh- keep up the banter you are all barking mad and certainly made me smile

I heartily disagree Graham, I think that at a push this forum could muster a reasonably impressive herd of Gaderene Swine.gfwgfw wrote:Nope

Ray, it's more than likely that after you pressed submit then a preview screen popped up to warn that a further post had been made to the thread in the period that you were writing yours. At this point you have to reconfirm your submission. If you don't notice this warning and navigate away, your post will be lost. Happened to me a time or two in the early days.Ray Scully wrote:How does one know if a post has be 'red lined' are you notified? I have had a few post not show up and thought I must have messed up.

The thing I could never understand about Degsy was why he condescended to post on a forum consisting of interletual inferiors. Please tell me where he is Graham. I'd love to have a peek.

I suspect he thought it was his duty to try and bring culture to the great unwashed northern horde.

I would put money on M.M. 'lurking'. With his ego it will be impossible not to if he thought there was half a chance of getting a mention

Doubtful that this is a serious thread but for what it is worth it would be pointless for the Monocled Mutineer to post on here because his posts would undoubtedly be reported and red penned. Moderation has to be equitable across the board and in my opinion people who are friends with others should not be moderators because, even if they believe they are impartial, wouldn't be able to remain impartial.

That's a valid point Mo - but it must be a blasted awkward thing to do; I don't think I'd like to do that job! Besides which I wouldn't be much good at it.

TMM would be welcome but he has, it was reported, his own reasons for not joining. These I respect but do not happen to agree with ... neither as a Member nor as a Moderator.

Re: Who are they
Not difficult at all Em, when I worked I was the "boss lady" and socialised with several colleagues away from work, it was never a problem, if someone stepped out of line at work then they were treated exactly the same as anyone else .. friendship didn't come into it.Boris+ wrote:That's a valid point Mo - but it must be a blasted awkward thing to do; I don't think I'd like to do that job! Em
I would imagine just the same as someone who is moderating a forum if someone steps out of line then they are red penned we all have the choice over what we say and do and I don't see any evidence that anyone is being treated any differently to anyone else.
Like you, I wouldn't be any good at it either but I do think HK Phooey has shown us all how perceptive she is ..... just give her a "red pen"

whenever I have worked with people who are in charge of their friends (or family) I have found that they try so hard to appear impartial that their friends (or family) get far harsher treatment than the average person

Re: Who are they
That is actually very true Meg, the company I worked for we had a member of staff who was the aunt of the CEO, I remember when she was due to retire ( it was 60 then with no exceptions ) she wanted to carry on working but the answer was no ... so even having relatives in high places didn't help her

I did put forward myself as moderator, but for some strange reason I had to make several attempts to re-register after mentioning my fee.
