They are not our friends Jack. They are out for themselves as is everyone else. Wait until we leave. Then their true colours will come out. We are all competitors.

Exactly. We will suddenly be on our own with no friends.barney wrote: 17 Jan 2019, 20:24They are not our friends Jack. They are out for themselves as is everyone else. Wait until we leave. Then their true colours will come out. We are all competitors.
That trade deal with them will go well won't it?

To be honest Gill, I couldn't care if they want a deal or not. WTO works for most of the world. The EU is not the world. It's an ever decreasing Un- natural set up.

Re: Brexit
Wrong there Barney. The EU is pretty much the world in that we currently have trade deals with all these countries...barney wrote: 17 Jan 2019, 20:42To be honest Gill, I couldn't care if they want a deal or not. Other countries are in trading blocks and have trade deals with other countries. As I’ve said several times before no advanced economy trades solely on WTO terms.barney wrote: 17 Jan 2019, 20:42To be honest Gill, I couldn't care if they want a deal or not. However, I’ve fully got the picture with you. You want out, regardless of the damage it will cause, and are obsessed with blame.

Not obsessed with blame Gill but I do want out at any cost. We only have this chance. Step up preparations for no WA agreement.

Re: Brexit
I watched Blair for a very short while on tv last night saying the people should have another vote and that if the results again come back that they want to leave the EU then we must accept it and get on with it.
REALLY! So how would that be different to now, now being the people voted to leave and the government have made a pigs ear of it and would probably do the same again. The blokes an idiot.

Re: Brexit
Good QT last night from Derby. Diane Abbott shown to be out of her depth and out of touch with her own Labour supporters and the People's Vote being shown as nothing more than a sophisticated pipe dream. Those in favour couldn't even agree on what the options should be!!! Biggest cheer of the night when Isabel Oakshott expressed her option for leaving the EU without a deal. Not comfortable viewing for Remainers.

Re: Brexit
The headline from Remain Guardian today
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... oples-vote
To save you the trouble of wading through it, many Labour Ministers are concerned how they can face their constituents if the allow another referendum, bearing in mind that most Labour constituencies voted to leave by a sizable majority.
The vocal few that the media constantly roll out do not apear to be representing Labour.
So, where does that leave us?

I'd like to believe, that the crowd took on board what Anand Menon said, in his calm measured tones. But I'm a realist, and know that with most of them, it was in one ear and out the other.

Re: Brexit
The Islington Tribune, Corbyn's local paper, today has a wrap around cover advertisement, paid for by his local party "Don't enable a Tory Brexit - Our party's future needs a public vote". (but of course, that's Islington, with the Champagne socialists who can afford a stunt like that).barney wrote: 18 Jan 2019, 09:52....... how they can face their constituents if the allow another referendum, bearing in mind that most Labour constituencies voted to leave by a sizable majority.
The "sizeable majority" in heartland Labour is remain. Try something like "labour seats now remain" in Google.

This was four (obviously paid) 'pit girls' waving placards, just for some photos. What an absolute shower!

Re: Brexit
ah! I see what you mean now. Remain is going totally mainstream, flowing out across the media, loads taking about how bad leave actually is and how we should revoke Article 50.
Thought you'd lost it for a bit there.

Re: Brexit
Remain has always been mainstream in my opinion. BBC clearly remain. SKY clearly remain. The government at the time of the referendum was remain. The opposition were remain. Bank of England remain. CBI remain. IMF remain. The only mainstream for leave was three papers. The Express. The Mail. The Telegraph. The Mail now has a new editor and has softened as has the Telegraph a bit. The Express has held fast. The Sun doesn't count in my opinion.
