Juncker and Tusk are saying exactly the same thing. Or do they have no influence either?
They have Gill and they have a decision to make. History will show that Brexit happened on their watch. They get it wrong and the EU goes into recession. They will be judged on that. Most Euro economies are hanging on by their fingertips.

That's like making out that the Labour Party is just for the working class. Have you seen the typical Labour activist lately. Very middle class :shh:

On the contrary Jack. Labour has become very middle class. Just look at the shadow cabinet. A few more like Jess Phillips would be welcome.

Having repeated votes until you get the result you want is not democracy Jack, no matter how loud and how many times you shout it.

I'll have a little wager that they do. One thing that we absolutely know about the EU is that they take it up to the wire. The remainer argument is pretty well dead after tonight.

I have to disagree there. Out of any argument that is 'dead' tonight it's Theresa's. Sorry Keefy.

What a cynical remainer you are Jack.
For a government to survive it must keep the people happy.
An attempt was made in 2016, it failed.
You can not tell me Britain is a happier place since then (Britain, not you personally).
So we will have to vote again until the people are happy. (Parl/People/GE)
That is democracy.

Thersea’s having a bash at it though. Next meaningful vote on the deal due 13th/14th February

I would agree with barny.

The EU will do a lot of "huffing and puffing" but at the last minute will compromise, after all don't forget this is all about money (ours!)

The problem is though that in order for TM to get a deal there will probably have to be concessions in the trade deal for France and/or Spain.

Yes, apparently Spain are already lobbying for Gibraltar being put back on the table in the unlikely event of negotiations being reopened, and other states want to talk about fishing.

What they say to the cameras and what they are saying behind closed doors may be two different things otherwise what would be the purpose of them meeting?
The people of Gibraltar voted to remain in the EU and not so long ago to remain British. If, after we leave the EU they wish to decide whether they want to remain with the UK or go along with Spain they should be the ones to decide. The same for the Scots.

Which suggests that they believe that a deal will be struck, albeit at the ' eleventh hour '.

ps … interesting that Jack views the EU as an iceberg … I agree, they will both be sinking in due course.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

They are just stirring it up a bit. They know the EU aren’t going to open the WA negotiations again. There’s no point - we don’t even know what alternative to the backstop we want, so there’s nothing to negotiate anyway

Probably not - but there can be a codicil to the WA.

We most likely do have alternatives - such as those already suggested during the original negotiations.

As I said before - it is all about money (ours)
