Did Boris know it was fake news due to a tip off perhaps … could explain his initial reaction ?
He probably gets 50 mobile phones thrust in his face everyday.......its called distract and attack giving the reporter an opportunity to catch him off guard with a misplaced word/sentence.

l don't care to much how he performs in front of the camera, it's what he can achieve behind the cabinet table that determines a great leader. ..come Thursday we all need to be pulling in the same direction not only to mend bridges but also to build new ones that reach out to every trading nation we can get our grubby hands on.

Vote Boris

I'd rather like to see a position found within government for Nige........when you consider what he has achieved practicality single handed just imagine what he could achieve as a trade negotiator.

I don't think so. The video of him pocketing that reporters phone was from earlier in the day - the idea that it might have been fake news only gained traction much later in the day. I know people on here decry social media, but at least its possible to watch the unfolding of events in real time.

I don't know whether it was fake or not with all the claims and counter claims. The real story for me, is that it was another awful display from Johnson. The natural, human, reaction if presented with that photo would be to at least say that you would personally look into the situation. Its not normal to pocket the phone, and then carry on with the soundbites and bluster.

Once Johnson is in a situation when he has to say any more than 'Oven Ready' and Get Brexit Done' he is appalling. That's why he's refusing to do this Andrew Neill because he is so useless when under scrutiny. When he's asked questions, his answers are almost incoherent. HIs performance has been so poor, that even members of this forum are beginning to notice and comment on it. (that's a little joke, BTW)

Does anybody know if he's out of that freezer that he hid in this morning?

I can't see Corbyn winning either - for different reasons, he's as bad for the country as Corbyn.

Our best hope is for another hung Parliament, and a clear out of failed leadership from both Conservative and Labour.

Plus one or two 'Portillo moments' on the night for entertainment value. I understand Raab is in danger. :D

Gill, whether it was faked or not you have to ask why on earth would a mother take a photo like that and send it to the Mirror, then denounce the media and politicians for making political points out of it.
I accept that Boris does not come over well in situations like that, but that does not mean he is unfit to govern.

I think that would be the worst possible result. It would more than likely end up with Corbyn propped up by the SNP and the worst of both their policies.

Jeremy Vine made a prat of himself today, more than usual, bemoaning Bojo declining a studio interview on his programme this lunchtime. He's supposed to be a journalist, but is he the only one who doesn't know that it's traditional on the last day of the campaign for party leaders to zig zag across the country visiting a number of key constituencies? Why would Bojo give that up and the associated media coverage for ten minutes on R2?

The day is here. Whoever you choose please get out and vote. It's our democratic right.

I can't stand those who could but don't bother who then moan about the result.

And I just know that this time tomorrow the losers will be pointing out that the winning party got less than 40% of the votes and claiming that the 30% who didn't bother support them.

I agree, we have been suffering from a hung Parliament for the best part of the past three years so to wish to prolong it is only for voters who wish to delay or cancel Brexit. The side effect would however probably cause the hold up of virtually all other meaningful legislation and investment into this Country throughout the term of the next Parliament.

Boris's chances of winning were not unduly affected, imo, by the pocketing of the reporters phone. My initial thoughts ( albeit ignoring the possible tip off ) was that he, or his aids, knew the reputation and political bias of the reporter in question so did so to avoid a set-up / sting type situation … which of course is exactly what it turned out to be.

Labour's chances were affected more, imo, because of the comments made by their Shadow Health Minister.

ps … we have voted so they can start counting any time soon

I voted by postal ballot, but recently read about all the postal ballots that get rejected for one reason or another, however it did not say whether you would be advised if this happened. If I have been been making a simple error my votes over the last 20 years or so might not have been valid, how do I find out and does anyone have a compo form if they haven't counted? :o :(

Son No 2 applied for a postal vote cos he expected to be out of the Country, change of plans and he's still here for another week or more so was able to cast his vote today at his Polling Station.

It transpired that the Council he applied to had mis-spelt his name so his postal vote would have been invalid …. triffic

I thought that if you had a postal vote that you could not "turn up in person" and cast your vote

As I understand things he, as in son No 2, contacted the Election type Department at the appropriate Council to arrange for the cancellation of his Postal Vote and that was when he discovered their error. He cast his vote this morning.

Walked to the polling, about 1 mile away, good for the exercise, but I assume that no one in my ward is voting Green,. Yes it was a tad drizzling with a cool breeze, the car park was bursting with cars. So much for the Green vote and saving the Planet.
