It just goes to prove the Westminster bubble, press and media have tried and failed to coerce the public into thinking that this was going to be a close run election where in reality people "did know" what they were voting for in the referendum. It also looks like the would be remainers have come to their senses and backed the only viable candidate.

I’d say that this myth is well and truly burst, should the exit poll be anywhere near correct.

The assumption that remain would win a second referendum seems to be only correct in the minds of the remainders.

Just watched Ed Balls and Alan Johnson tear into Jon Lansman, the momemtum leader, blaming him and his policies for Labour's poor performance, but give Lansman his due he stuck to his guns even though surely even he must have his doubts about how to make such extreme marxist policies popular with the electorate.

The swamp has been well and truly drained. I was truly surprised when I heard Workington had gone Tory. It's been a real Labour stronghold for donkeys' years but we had a Remainer Corbyn lapdog MP in a strong Leave area so there was a lot of anger and frustration with the antics of the opposition benches in Parliament.
Well they wanted a Peoples Vote and now the people have loudly spoken. After three and a half years of excuses, delay, obstruction, hearing the clown with the megaphone, betrayal by Remainer MPs, the demonstration of EU flags and hats at the Albert Hall, media bias and insults thrown at the Leave campaign, today is sweet revenge.

Jo Swinson? Our next PM? Couldn't even hang onto her own seat!!!
The excuses and recriminations have already started pouring in.

Well it didn't take long. I've already seen a Facebook post saying that if you take into account all those eligible to vote only 32% voted Tory.

Well tough. The 35% who couldn't be bothered should have made the effort. Actually make that 34%. I accept a very small number would have had a physical reason why they couldn't. The rest just couldn't be a**ed.

I also see Mrs Krankie saying there's now a mandate for a second Indyref. My advice to Boris would be go for it as soon as Brexit is done. The SNP did well last night under our first past the post system. But well under 50% voted for independence supporting parties. My prediction is a second vote would go the same way as the first and then the Sturgeon would be as extinct as the Salmond.

I have no problem with Scotland having a vote on independence. It is then up to the Scots to decide what they want to do and shut the likes of Sturgeon, Blackford and Cherry up for ever. What a nasty, despicable crew they present themselves as and in my (limited) experience of Scottish people they are not representative.

I really enjoyed Emily Matlis surgically taking apart the Labour twerp this morning who was trying to say it wasn't theit policies or leader that was the problem but the media.

My experience too Foxy. I know a number of Scots and not one of them supports independence. I suspect their case will be even weaker once we're out of the EU and if they leave the UK they'd have to apply to rejoin.

I mean no disrespect to the Scots but when they fully understand the true repercussions of what leaving the UK will mean for their country they will vote as they did before should there be another referendum.
