Well l'm sure you're all waiting with bated breath wanting to know how the two girls are settling in...well the first thing we did was to clip their wings as l'm sure motorists wouldn't have taken kindly to seeing two birds flying towards them down the A 435.
We separated them from Susie until bed time then slung them all in together....All seemed to go well until we let them out this morning...Susie has been terrorising Molly so much so that Molly is now sitting 12 foot up in a tree (that'll teach my wife as l told her we should have used a ball and chain)

It's a bit worrying as it's only a short skip and jump over the 8 foot fence to the adjacent field where no doubt Foxy will be lurking......the farmer down the road lost 16 hens a couple of weeks back which l fear is the same fate awaiting Molly if my wife can't get her down.

Back tomorrow with another exciting episode of did she, didn't she, make it?

How did she get up in the tree if her wings are clipped.

Rattle the old feed bucket, she'll soon come down. Failing that..........bang!

Apparently cutting their flight feathers restrictso lift off .......not in this case however........They are only 16 weeks old so they have no weight on them which is why l'll have to go the whole hog and cut her wing off......If we get her down .........btw you ain't half a cruel bart**d these are family pets l would have you know

Having removed Susie first we put down some Winolot dog food which brought her down....we have now given her other wing the short back and sides...here's hoping!

How were the rest of her feathers. Some chickens literally get hen pecked and lose an area of feathers behind their head. Glad you managed to get her down.

Morning Stephen…You wouldn’t normally find me up at this time in the morning but me and my daughter have decided to take it in turns to let Bully girl Susie out of the coop early giving the other two girls a bit of down time in the coop.

Its early days as it dose take time to establish a pecking order (so I have read) and I’m sure this is what is happening, that being said the machete wielding Susie is going a bit over the top especially with Molly. Yes she is pecking at her feather but not to the extent where Molly is losing any (apart from the ones I have cut off that is) Susie is preferring to go in talons first…perhaps she thinks she is a Cockerel?

I’ll be giving a further update later to day….p.s nice to see you getting broody about our chickens

Where we stay on holiday each year theowners have a small holding with many chickens being part of the menagerie. One or two look like they are almost ready for the pot where their feathers have been constantly pecked.

Perhaps you need a cockerel to keep them all in order, a bit like we do with our wives......I say with a whisper :D

Well this is the story you’ve all been waiting for :D …I took Susie aside and gave her a good talking to this morning, it went something like this…..Hi Susie, have you been missing your friend Dotty recently? With tears rolling down her beak and her crown flopped to one side she managed to cluck out, yes! where is she? With tears welling up in my eyes I said the same bloody place you’ll be going if you don’t stop picking on Molly…. this seemed to have the desired effect as today, having given them the full access to the whole garden there has been a coming together…not best buddies yet but they have all found their own way into the coop tonight.

Night, night Molly, night night Maude....you've been warned Susie, Night night all  :D

A few ruffled feathers today and a bit of tail pulling but no blood drawn  …. all three tucked themselves to bed without squabbles :D .
Daughter and wife have been giving the girls a cuddle {in the conservatory) this past couple of days and it is surprising how tame they are getting…they’ll be sitting round the dining room table by Saturday if I’m not on my guard.

I had nightmares after having dispatched Dotty although I suppose I could take Susie out for walkies then do a runner
