Re: Locally Produced
I bought some in Tesco a couple of years ago at over double the normal price. They were IMO significantly inferior to my favourite Charlotte potatoes, and ridiculously overpriced.Manoverboard wrote: 11 May 2020, 14:08Jersey Royals need to be fresh, loose and grown in Jersey rather than, say, Norfolk.

They do need to be purchased from a ' real ' greengrocer rather than a Supermarket, but yes they are expensive.towny44 wrote: 11 May 2020, 17:12I bought some in Tesco a couple of years ago at over double the normal price. While we grow some very good potatoes in Norfolk, especially for Crisping, I don't think you can grow jerseys. Are they not like Melton pork pies, made, grown locally.Manoverboard wrote: 11 May 2020, 14:08Jersey Royals need to be fresh, loose and grown in Jersey rather than, say, Norfolk.

We had a couple of scoops of Joe’s ice cream when we last visited Swansea…I can still remember it so it must be nice. Our friends owned a chalet type bungalow thingy at the tip of Swansea where we stayed for a short break.

They are doing deliveries and I have just booked one. I think the fact the earliest I could get was 25th shows how popular it is.Onelife wrote: 11 May 2020, 17:52We had a couple of scoops of Joe’s ice cream when we last visited Swansea…I can still remember it so it must be nice. As someone who lives in Swansea Joe's gets my vote.
As for my brothers family when they visit from Wiltshire the first stop is Joe's.

Oh gawd...Please don't mention Honeycomb to me.......We often used to pop into the ice cream factory in Towyn, and their speciality is honeycomb ice cream........even the bloody coffee ice cream has a tastes of honeycomb.....hate it.Manoverboard wrote: 12 May 2020, 10:06They do have other flavours of course, like Honeycomb for example ... just sayingOnelife wrote: 12 May 2020, 09:57Stop it Mob....l'm tempted to go out and get some![]()

Sticking with the smoked fish theme Arbroath Smokies are worth a try if you see them. Look pretty grim but taste sublime ...especially accompanied by an Islay whisky.
