It seems some people are idiots all the time! There was intense emergency services near us in the Peak District yesterday. Rumour was a woman had gone into labour in a cave.

How on earth can you relate allowing the shielded group outside with their household or one close friend, if they live alone, with improving the economy???!!!
Since the majority of people have been following the social distancing advice, and even those who have bent the rules a little have in the main tried to avoid close contact with strangers, I believe it is reasonable for the govt to try and spread the lockdown relaxation as wide as possible. BUT they will be hoping that the majority do continue to show the same common sense in how they use these new freedoms.
Lets try to be positive for once and not always look for the negatives in everything.

I didn’t relate the shielded group going outside with improving the economy. It was Onelife who said that

Guys, sort it out amongst yourselves. I didn't say it and I didn't put the original interpretation on it! I'm just a bystander who's been dragged in!

We are currently at Alert Level 4

Loosening lockdown is an Alert Level 3 action.

Shielded people going out is an Alert Level 1 action.

They are now ignoring their own alert system - it’s a shambles.

I’m staying home. I’m not putting myself out there at moment.

However, men in their 60's start to be more at risk from serious effects of C19. As my husband is 68, it doesn't seem worth rushing out, only for him to risk getting ill.

Shielded people are, in many cases, climbing the walls, after weeks of not going out. It's hard enough for those of us who have been able to go out occasionally for exercise or essential shopping. And for those of us with nice gardens to sit in. Imagine those in apartments who've been ordered to stay put for weeks.

No-one is forcing shielded people to go out now. Nor indeed telling others they should start playing golf or meeting families in open spaces. Simply that they can if they wish. Those who are nervous about doing so can stay home if they wish to do so.

The social media narrative is wonderful. It summarises as: "it's not safe for my children to go back to school or me to go to work or granny to come out of her bedroom, but when will the pubs open and why can't I fly to Benidorm next Tuesday?"

I totally understand that for some people who have been shielding it has been very difficult for them. The point I'm making is, why is it suddenly ok for them to go out now? The government's own alert system says they shouldn't go out until level one has been achieved. So the government have ignored their own system, for no apparent reason

Although..... how many actual people are they testing?

This information hasn't been available for some days. Some believe its because the Government are counting the two different parts of the test as two completely separate tests. So in other words, the amount of people tested is much less than the amount of daily tests

The target, it reports, was 200,000 tests per day whereas the figure achieved was in excess of 205,000.

Not a World beater I grant you but credit where credit is due is my mantra ... even for Boris from time to time.

Do you know which day 205000 tests were achieved? I normally check the figures each day and haven't seen anything that high. Yesterdays figure on the slide I posted was 115725. I don't think I've seen anything so significantly higher than that figure

As I said with the Cummings charade, it’s impossible to defend the indefensible.
She took the high ground of telling people to stay home while not abiding herself.
She should resign, call a by-election and let her constituents decide if she maintains credibility.
Otherwise, she is a total hypocrite.

she broke the rules of Marriage..! Did she apologise to her lovers wife.? Also a bit of a hypocrit where education is concerned. Opposes any New Grammar schools even though her 2 children went to Grammars. Of course, nothing will suit some people.
