Hi Foxy… my mother used a few of theses…..I bet yours did toooldbluefox wrote: 20 Jun 2020, 09:18I will continue lockdown until such time as I think it is safe to venture further afield irrespective of what Dominic Cummings did, or for that matter Stephen Kinnock, Tahir Ali, Kevan Jones or a myriad of footballers who also broke lockdown rules. It's called common sense and an upbringing of being told "If he put his hand in the fire, would you?"
Funny really how some of these old sayings taught to us as children are now ringing true eg. "Coughs and sneezes spread diseases, catch your cough in a handkerchief". Maybe had we employed some of these sayings instead of ignoring them the epidemic may not have spread as it has.

Re: Current Affairs
This was taken from FB which I thought rings true.
I don’t give a Rats a*se who this offends, but I stand by it. War is coming, sooner or later! You the Government!! And I mean all of the Governments (Labour, Conservative etc etc). You are all a bunch of cowards! You raised the cost of living so high that both parents are always at work, rather than spending time with their children (single parents stand no chance)
. You took assembly out of schools. Parents were told 'No you can't discipline your children. Well, now most of those children are rude and out of control. You shall reap what you sow!
We have taken a whole generation and turned them into selfish, entitled brats who have no respect for people, property or authority! You deem people with terminal illnesses and some with only a few months to live…fit for work!!! You allow our veterans of war to go homeless and hungry but give out millions to foreign aid and allow our war memorials to be desecrated without recourse.
You save drug addicts over and over again but refuse to give free diabetic supplies to those who need them to stay alive. You bend over backwards to be politically correct, too scared to say enough is enough, in case you offend someone. You think that it is correct to go down on blended knee to show your support for a drug addict and convicted criminal under the banner BLM. You put the retirement age up so people must work until they drop. You take care of prisoners and give them everything under the sun (food, medical, education, representation, money, rehabilitation and religious preferences). They have broken the law. Yet you cause the elderly, those that have paid their debt to society and their families, to go broke caring for them either at home or in a nursing home... THINGS NEED TO CHANGE.....STOP BURYING YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND AND DO WHAT YOU KNOW IS RIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY

Re: Current Affairs
I'm starting to be seriously worried about the use of the Black Lives Matter slogan.
Naively I believed it to be a single campaign essentially fighting against racism. But having read an article today (yes it was in the Mail, but read on), rather than take what they say as gospel, I've done an internet search on the simple phrase Black Lives Matter UK.
Worryingly it returns a number of organisations and fundraisers under variations of that banner. Some are genuinely fighting racism. Fair enough. But others have aims including dismantling capitalism and abolishing the police. I wonder if those blindly, and with the right intentions, making donations realise that is some cases they are actually supporting anarchist groups piggy backing on the sense of genuine outrage.

People have been told they can shop, and no doubt social distancing will be reducing to 1m very soon.
Apart from my weekly Sainsbury’s click and collect order, I’ll be needing the services of delivery drivers for some time to come - at 1m people would almost be breathing down my neck!

Reported that the R rate in Germany is at 2.8. For those singing Germany’s praises. Yes, I know their cases and death toll is still lower.

Except that the core part of the tracking requirement will already be installed on your phone. It has been rolled out to all Android and IPhones. All that the governments have done or, in the UKs case, might do, is provide an app to surface and utilise that information.
The only way to stop google/Apple tracking you is to not have a mobile phone - freedom of choice. Otherwise the google timeline is very useful.

That’s how I understand it as well, the R in Germany went up due to a couple of localised outbreaks. As the virus is still active, outbreaks will happen, it’s how they are dealt with that will be significantOnelife wrote: 22 Jun 2020, 09:54Apparently one thousand of new cases came from one meat processing factory.....the spread probably has something to do with the cooler working environment they work in?screwy wrote: 21 Jun 2020, 23:24Reported that the R rate in Germany is at 2.8. That is also understanding and is the rational explanation being carried in most of the media. Of course if our R rate as much as hints at rising above 1 it will be Boris's fault.Gill W wrote: 22 Jun 2020, 11:19That’s how I understand it as well, the R in Germany went up due to a couple of localised outbreaks. The app is the bit that does the front end recording via bluetooth exchange of tokens. This was the compromise made that it would not be linked to the GPS tracking the phone does automatically. So if someone reports they have COVID then the token from their phone can be sent across the network allowing the APP to check if it is found on your device. It is all done quite anonymously.barney wrote: 22 Jun 2020, 10:25iPhone - settings/privacy/health … there it is.Kendhni wrote: 22 Jun 2020, 06:59Except that the core part of the tracking requirement will already be installed on your phone. However I am led to believe that none of this was actually needed. The google timeline would have been accurate enough, but for some curious reason people who do not understand 'big data' got upset by the thought. I suspect that there is also a lot of analytics being gathered to be fed into the bigger picture, such as clusters, R number etc.
I find it all fascinating. 15-20 years ago if we told people that you would willingly allow the state to track you they would have said no way (probably thinking of an implant). But yet today, the majority of people willingly carry around mobile devices that ARE tracking their every movement. Similarly 10 years ago people got up in arms over a possible DNA database, but yet in the likes of this COVID pandemic such a resource may have been invaluable - and we also see all sorts of adverts on TV for basic DNA testing (and it is big business). DNA profiling is absolutely core to the work the company I work for does.
It is incredible just how much, social programming has taken place since the turn of the century and just how easy it was for interested parties to do it.

I can remember attending a lecture about DNA many years ago when I worked at 140 and we thought it was the stuff of science fiction.
I can recall a colleague saying that if what they were saying was true, it would eliminate crime and terrorism.
That clearly didn’t turn out to be the case, did it?
