It cannot be too much of a problem otherwise there would be a lot of reports of problems bearing in mind the number of motorists that use supermarket petrol.

One reason that it is cheaper could be because it is imported

All petrol is imported.

My factory unit is next to the BP Oil Terminal at Hamble and I have been on a couple of tours of it. All the tanks have the same petroleum spirit but the difference between the brands is that just before they leave the terminal the tankers pull into what is effectively a petrol station in reverse.

It is there that all the various additives are poured into the tops of the tankers and the supermarkets use only the cheap ones.

There are also five giant holding tanks which receive the crude oil from the Wych Farm oilfield via a pipeline. This crude is loaded onto a tanker every week or so and sold on the wider European market.

Been using the wife's smaller car for the short runs during lock down.
Run the mower on 'Aspen' fuel.

I knew you knew ;)

We produce a reasonable amount from Wych Farm but even that is exported for conversion.

Sure we do. There are six and a half of them.
