But going back into antiquity and trying to judge 200/300 year old actions against modern day morals is not the way either. A little quiet reflection from all sides of the argument is needed, unfortunately the zealots are never going to let that happen.
You don’t have to turn the clock back that far John; 60/70 years would have been sufficient to see where all this started going wrong. In accepting we are now a multicultural island we also have to accept the rules of equality must apply to all and this to a more or lesser extent where it all started going wrong imo.
For what it’s worth I don’t subscribe to the “we can all live happily ever after multicultural experiment" and feel quite sad that our indigenous culture has all but disappeared, this however doesn’t mean I can’t love thou neighbour irrespective of their race, greed or colour
it just means the experiment didn’t work in a society where diversity drives us apart further and further apart.
So do you have a solution, is there a way to provide equality without throwing away our history, if not what do you consider the outcome will be?
I think the solution starts when you establish whether or not there is a problem…I don’t think governments past and present have really wanted to face up to what I believe is a problem of growing divisions within our multicultural society.
If there is a solution to be had it will only happen when we can all truly come together in accepting that inequalities do exist…however, what I see is a country divided by an inequality derived from segregation of different cultures, cultures, which it has to be said, are reluctant to show any compromise of their own cultural identity for that of others…including that of the indigenous culture.
As you know I’m good at predictions

and although I won’t be around to see if I am right or wrong … I believe in twenty/ thirty years’ time our cultural heritage will be reduced to that of just another ethnic group within a myriad of other ethnic groups…. only the strongest will survive.
Oop’s…I haven’t given you a solution…hmm! let’s start off with education… future generations should be taught in teaching environments void of religious doctrine…. e.g. close all religious based schools. This way children will be more accepting of a secular society.
I can see nothing changing until we make a commitment to upping the standards of some of our worst cess pits areas in which some have no option but to live.
Anyway the above should give you a few angles in which to tell me where I’m wrong…which as we both know is what you intended…. over to you.
