When I'm ready for a good laugh I'll ring my travel insurer. They'll be fallling about.

That's always an interesting thought Merv, why are you now a higher risk after having a possible life threatening problem averted, than you were before? Strange people these risk assessors.

I can't fathom that one either. After a full service and refurb on my ticker it cost me another £150 a year on my travel insurance. I'd walked around all my life with a ticker which was working at half capacity but they wanted more for a fully functioning one.
I was taught to be cautious

Probably because it might have been a bodge job. Did you take out the extra warranty :D

That is the bizarre thing isn't it? I now know there is a major problem i don't have any longer. Someone else might have it so they should be higher risk. It's like charginig lower car insurance premiums for cars that have never had a service or MoT.

Why do we say these things ?

In similar surroundings my male, bent as a nine bob note, nurse gently asked me why I kept waking up ... " Just making sure I haven't died " was my own response

Like you my attitudes and life priorities changed after my own life saving operation, including reviewing one’s inclination to be a tad homophobic prior to that moment in time.

Take it easy and let Trish do all the shopping

Hi Merv, so pleased for you that all has been fixed. Like you I have 'enjoyed' the wonderful facilities of our NHS 3 times in the last 2 years' going under for two procedures, and yes it definitely makes one reevaluate your priorities.

Okay, update from the sickbed!

One or two have noted my absence from the forum for chunks of the past couple of weeks. Did the rest of you not miss me?
Sorry merv but I didn't, but then I don't have easy internet here at the coast.
You certainly don't do things by halves, so glad you are on the mend, you take it easy chap and don't let politics get you going.
Leave that to the rest of the forum but time will tell if you can resist the urge

Point of order. How did 'Last One To Post Wins' get on this part of the forum. I thought it was hard coded in the 'Fun And Game' section :o

It all started on a sunny Wednesday afternoon when two posts were moved from LOTP into Merv's Topic. The Topic name comes with the move and because someone, no names no pack drill, keeps quoting the moved posts the LOTP Topic title remains.

Seemples ..... but I will ' edit ' them to avoid any confusion for our Member from Essex

I know l'm treading where l shouldn't here but to my mind if David were to make the recent topics box bigger to include WA, LOTP and TWA you would find they would get far more hits than they presently do now. I also think it would make it easier for new members to get involved.
