Quite a weekend for the Hornets ... deffo ditto for the Terriers

Three points gained, same points and GD as the Canaries but more significantly we also gained three points and 2 to 4 goals over the rest of the top six.

It was exactly 1 year ago yesterday that I last saw the Palace play live. A whole year has passed and I ain't been up to Selhurst Park or been to an away game. We beat Watford 1 - 0 sorry MoB) with Jordan Ayew scoring. Just after that football cane to a grinding halt and not another ball was kicked until 20th June and the game went 'behind closed doors)

I think it will be a few more months yet until we can get back into the stadiums. I reckon we won't be back until August.

I only watch the Hornets on t'telly even in normal times but even so I do miss the roar of the home crowd. Interestingly it has been possible for me to watch virtually every match this season courtesy of Sky Live or the Red Button which has been great cos unlike last season we are winning more than we lose.

I think next season will start with crowds, even if they are restricted.
Another season without income will be impossible.

Our ground holds 12k with a usual crowd of about 6k so should be ok, without any away fans.

All credit to Zaha for his stance against taking the knee. This was something only a black person could do otherwise it would be construed as racist. The sooner this practice stops then the better and maybe it's just as well there have been no crowds.
I am fully supportive of kicking racism out, that's not the issue. This 'taking the knee' came across from America as a consequence of reckless police behaviour on that side of the ocean. That gave rise to BLM whose violent protests and wanton desecration of monuments caused so much trouble and whose motives have since been shown to be political. 'Taking the knee' shows an affiliation to BLM and in my opinion does nothing to further the cause but conversely annoys those who see it as a gesture to a political cause.

I agree with Foxy that if they are still taking the knee when spectators return, then we could see or hear some adverse reaction from the crowd, which will only inflame racist tensions.

I think there are better ways of demonstrating unity against racism than adopting a gesture which was re-born due to the hapless death of a career criminal.

Well said OBF....Now Wilf has done that abd well done MotD for hilighting it) I wonder whether other players will now take the same stance. BLF and taking the knee will make no difference. If you are racist then you are racist. We won't get rid of racism in football (although it ain't nearly as bad as it used to be) until you get rid of racism in society and unfortunately that ain't going to happen.

Absolutely bowled over by our performance against Yanited on Sunday. So often we have been disappointed with a lacklustre display against the, almost as if we afford them too much respect. Last season we lost to them, a result which dropped us out of the Champions League places so to see us play them off the park on Sunday was magnificent.
Looking forward now to the semi final against Southampton and hoping we can get to a Wembley Final. Who knows? At the fifth attempt we might even win it! Fingers crossed.

He sure has. Talk about villain to hero. We used to groan when he came on. Couldn't control the ball, couldn't hit a cow's backside with a banjo. This season ever since we were hit by so many injuries he has been outstanding and is scoring for fun. It's a good job really cos Vardys goals have dried up. It's like having a new player.

To be fair Foxy ,as well as you played United were very poor, have been for a while but getting away with it. They just seem short of ideas, drive and ambition, oh, and a total lack of skills and mindset.

As a supporter who has suffered the annual trauma of seeing Ronnie Redford & Bobby George on the run up to every FA cup weekend of the last 40 years I apologise in advance for any Terriers fans who may stumble across this, but I thought it interesting. It’s from Derek Ufton’s obituary.


His dual career was hampered by recurrent shoulder dislocations, of which there were at least 20. In December 1957 he was captaining Charlton against Bill Shankly’s Huddersfield Town side when he put out his shoulder after 17 minutes and was taken to hospital.

He was about to be wheeled into the operating theatre when he heard that his side were 4-1 down; he tried to discharge himself in order to get back to The Valley, but was persuaded to stay.

When he came round he discovered that Huddersfield had scored twice more – but Charlton had outdone them in a historic 7-6 victory; as far as is known, no other professional team in football history has ever scored six goals and lost the game.

Thanks for that reminder Ranchi. I was watching a reserve game at the Leeds Road ground that day, and when I left the ground we were still winning 5-1, so you can imagine my shock when I watched the results on TV later. Charlton's winger Johnny Summers scored 5 goals and made the other 2, as they came from 5-1 down in the final 25 minutes.
A more memorable statistic is that we were the first team to record a hat trick of 1st division titles.
