Snowing really heavily here (Surrey / Hampshire borders) at the moment, so just topping up what we had at the weekend, forecast to snow all through the evening until early hours of the morning - good job I bought the laptop home!

Absolutely nothing up here. Cold though so we expect frost tonight.

Well my OH left work early tonight as snow was falling hard where we live around a 20 minute drive away, so at 4:30 both he and my daughter started the journey home. At 5:30 I got a text to say the traffic was bad at 6:30 a text to say they had not moved since 5:30 at 7pm they text to say they had abandoned the car and were on foot and a 9pm they made it home.

So just watch the local news where the highway agency were clapping themselves on the back for a job well done...........maybe they should come here to see the main route which is now impassable littered with crashed and abandoned cars oh yes a job well done indeed.

Been snowing here in Oxfordshire since 4.30pm and now we are back to where we started with it last Friday. Managed to get the car out today but I can see tomorrow being a different matter :-(

Clear in Derby
must check the forecast as we are off to a black tie do on Friday night in Manchester and I do not want to have to take the "Chelsea Tractor" if it can be avoided

mind you it is great fun wafting past all the BMW and Merc drivers who are stuck in 4 inches of snow

You're lucky ours is still 5/6 inches deep here in Chesterfield although I expect the town centre is clear, won't be getting the car out to check though :(

I'm venturing out with my car today for the first time since Wednesday last week as I'm meeting friends for lunch & doing the supermarket shop while I'm out :D

Fortunately all the good work I did on Monday clearing the drive has paid dividends as it's totally clear so I don't see any problems as the main roads are looking fine :D

More snow here again in Wales, so yet another day off.

Dogs are looking at me very hopefully at the moment, so I shall have to drag myself away from the computer and take them out to play! I really enjoy taking them out when it's like this - they love it so much!

We had our main snow here on Sunday.

It's still lying, but nothing significant since.

We've been lucky so far this winter, compared to other parts of te country

It has snowed for most of the day, more than we had last week and has resulted in many roads around here being closed and a cancelled visit to the dentist as it is a 20 mile trip!

Supermarket shop is usually done on a Thursday so I have just ventured out, wearing my 'spikies' things that fit over shoes, to get some milk. Not panic buying....a necessity. Also cleared a path down to the car on the drive as we shall try the dentist again tomorrow.

We are travelling up the M1 to Derby at the weekend please could anybody in the area let me know what the roads are like around there. We are heading to the Mickleover area. Forecasts that I have seen have ranged from the great thaw to more snow and we need to decide wether or not to travel.

Many thanks :D

Sounds like you've had it bad Jaczs :(

I managed to get all the snow & ice off mine today but was most unimpressed when the car park hadn't been cleared at the pub/restaurant when I went out to lunch today , although the supermarket car park was clear :)

It is surreal Wina I left home this morning to catch the bus to Bath and I have around a foot and a half in my garden and the roads and paths are covered but when I got to Bath it is green grass and a slight dusting of snow here and there remains

Babs, if you have lost a post then what has probably happened is that someone sneaked a post in before yours. When this happens, you get a chance to review your post, in light of the extra post from elsewhere. If you don't notice this review option and navigate elsewhere you can lose your post.

Thanks Romig I think it's lost now as I have been mooching the forum - have you still got snow in your neck of the woods- or any more forecast?

Just watching the forecast now. We have some more snow forecast for Friday afternoon. There's still a fair amount on the ground, but most roads are passable now.
