Ken, I'm sure you knew what I was on about, but just to make it clear, it's the covid vaccination confirmation letter showing you have had the two injections. πŸ‘
You have to make allowances for Ken as he lives in a country that does not have the same level of sophisticated technology like wot we has

Indeed I am just going out to mow my roof and give the wife a kick since she isn't pedalling hard enough to power that discombobulator with moving pictures.

Is it really that difficult for those living in areas of high Indian variant to not understand the difference between advice and an instruction. The government advice was that they should think, before leaving the effected area, if their journey was essential. Or we advise people to use common sense if meeting other people outside the effected area. If that is to difficult for even the leaders of the areas effected to understand, then no wonder they are in the position that they find themselves

I also read that up to 50% of people in those areas booked for vaccination aren't turning up.

On a serious note, with a bank holiday weekend and the hint of warmer weather and just easing out of a 5 month lockdown, does anyone really believe there will be a majority of people cancelling their planned vacations and staying local this weekend?

I won't be cancelling anything this weekend, but then I wasn't planning anything anyway.
Along with many of my friends I'm easing out of lockdown slowly - just because we can do things doesn't mean we have to.

We’ll take a stroll along the beach as usual but expect it to be a bit busier.
Maybe have a pint or two but stay cautious.

We are going to visit chums for a socially distanced lunch this weekend and then next weekend we will meet up with the socially distanced grandchildren and after that we may even pop into M&S for a socially distanced bag or two of Greenland prawns ... taking it very slowly, maybe too slowly but that suits us right now.

We are taking it slowly as well.
We have both had our 2 jabs, son who lives st home had the first.

I am off to Warners in early July but am still prepared to move the break if all is not as it should be
It will be strange travelling on the train after do long being at home but really looking forward to a break away and more importantly meeting up with my friend who I havn't seen since September.

Through out the last summer because of furlough, most hot days the beach was very busy. I found it better to stoll the beach before or after the day trippers.
Now, things may be a bit better, as last year we had no vaccinations, but do not throw caution to the wind.

I see the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been cleared for use in the UK
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/one-jab-johns ... 42121.html

Given reports from colleagues in America it seems to have more side effects than even the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.

The big advantage seems to be iit only needs one jab, so they don't have to chase reluctant vaxers for the second installment.

If it does have more side effects, then getting them to have it at all may be problematic.

If they won’t have either vaccination then that’s their problem and they may die.

I know you are being facetious, but, remember this country could probably have continued on, with minimal death toll, if we had have locked the over 70's up and didn't allow them to leave their houses - but, outside of government circles (who seemed initially to be quite happy if a few old people died), I don't think the public would ever have wanted that.

While I think anyone not taking the offered vaccine is as mad as bucket of frogs we are fortunate that we do not need 100% to be vaccinated to obtain herd immunity. It is also good to see that some companies have taken the approach of 'no vaccination, no job' while others (allegedly) are starting to source booster jabs for their staff.

What makes you think that? With some of the pathetic excuses I have been told for not having the jab, from people who should know better I am totally serious. I don't see why I, and millions of others, should have the jab so that the selfish snowflakes can carry on with their lives without contributing anything.

Many of the excuses are valid but the media is focussing on those that have inane excuses. One could have argued if hadn't been for the selfish snowflake senior citizens we wouldn't have needed lockdown - a fallacious argument, but no different to any other that relies on defining someone else as a 'snowflake'.

Unlike masks, whose main purpose is to protect others, the vaccine is about protecting yourself so let those that desire a Darwin award have it. I have always said to let people have the choice ... they can choose to follow guidelines and have access to the NHS or they can choose to have their """freedom""" and no access to the NHS.

I am not talking about anything in the media, I am talking about real live people that I have talked to.

I have to disagree - there were far less "selfish snowflake senior citizens" than there were "selfish snowflake junior citizens". I didn't see hoards of senior citizens flocking to the pubs the night before lockdown.

Some "selfish snowflake senior citizens" were shielded and have been nowhere. Perhaps if others had followed the guidelines a bit more carefully instead of twisting them with lame excuses to suit themselves because they found them "confusing" ( ) we may have come out of lockdown a lot sooner than we did.
And there would have been fewer deaths.
