Re: Current Affairs
I’ve had more experience with women than most men have had afternoon tea at the Ritz
and it is for this reason I think Liz Truss has more about her than what her less than convincing public speeches would have you believe. The first thing she needs to do is close the gap between the us and them within her own party and bring about a consensus of unity, to do this she needs to think strategically about who she brings into the cabinet.

Re: Current Affairs
With my Mystic Meg hat on, I predict that Truss will be another short term PM, like May & Johnson.
Those regulars on here will recall that I said, almost immediately after the last election, that Johnson would not be leading the Tories into the next election.
I think that Truss will leave it as late as possible before calling for another election but I predict a slight Labour majority next time.
We’ll see.
I think that if Labour cannot win a general election with this shower running the show, then they never will again and England will become a one party state.

I would make a guess at around October 2024 - has to be by January 2025 and election campaigning over Christmas is not the best of times.barney wrote: 06 Sep 2022, 09:30I think that Truss will leave it as late as possible before calling for another election

Re: Current Affairs
It appears that neither the outgoing PM nor the incoming PM are particularly bothered about climate change otherwise they would have both used the same plane to fly to Scotland, but no - it is one each.

Re: Current Affairs
With people scratching around trying to make ends meet one would have thought the traditional nonsense of handovers could have been done by video link instead of spending £100,000+ sending two private jets up to Balmoral for the day?
Complete waste of tax payers money.

Re: Current Affairs
You can’t have both outgoing and incoming Pms in the same aircraft in case of emergency, bit like the 2 pilots have different meals. Not a case of economics I’m afraid.

Probably true Screwy, but in the 21st Century with WFH via the internet quite normal, surely it could have been done on Teams or similar.screwy wrote: 06 Sep 2022, 11:17You can’t have both outgoing and incoming Pms in the same aircraft in case of emergency, bit like the 2 pilots have different meals. Hi Screwy…with today’s technology and the fact that the flight time amounts to just over an hour I can’t see that any emergency couldn’t be handled from a first class seat on a private jet.screwy wrote: 06 Sep 2022, 11:17You can’t have both outgoing and incoming Pms in the same aircraft in case of emergency, bit like the 2 pilots have different meals. Can't kiss hands on Teams. Not without causing a fuss anyway.towny44 wrote: 06 Sep 2022, 11:40Probably true Screwy, but in the 21st Century with WFH via the internet quite normal, surely it could have been done on Teams or similar.screwy wrote: 06 Sep 2022, 11:17You can’t have both outgoing and incoming Pms in the same aircraft in case of emergency, bit like the 2 pilots have different meals. In the context of what sorting out the cost of living crisis is going to cost an extra private jet is neither here nor there. And if it's good enough for Me-me-meghan.....

Mind you they could have made Boris come back on the train. He has no other urgent appointments today.

I can’t see anything wrong with Me-me-love-her Meghan traveling by private jet when the travel costs are met through other means other than tax payers money.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 06 Sep 2022, 12:06Can't kiss hands on Teams.
