I’ve had more experience with women than most men have had afternoon tea at the Ritz :) and it is for this reason I think Liz Truss has more about her than what her less than convincing public speeches would have you believe. The first thing she needs to do is close the gap between the us and them within her own party and bring about a consensus of unity, to do this she needs to think strategically about who she brings into the cabinet.

Well I've never had afternoon tea at the Ritz so that's not saying much!

Experience comes from knowing your subject, besides, you’ve got to start somewhere and Mr Patel’s top shelf left me wanting to know  :D

With my Mystic Meg hat on, I predict that Truss will be another short term PM, like May & Johnson.
Those regulars on here will recall that I said, almost immediately after the last election, that Johnson would not be leading the Tories into the next election.
I think that Truss will leave it as late as possible before calling for another election but I predict a slight Labour majority next time.
We’ll see.
I think that if Labour cannot win a general election with this shower running the show, then they never will again and England will become a one party state.

I would make a guess at around October 2024 - has to be by January 2025 and election campaigning over Christmas is not the best of times.

It appears that neither the outgoing PM nor the incoming PM are particularly bothered about climate change otherwise they would have both used the same plane to fly to Scotland, but no - it is one each.

With people scratching around trying to make ends meet one would have thought the traditional nonsense of handovers could have been done by video link instead of spending £100,000+ sending two private jets up to Balmoral for the day?

Complete waste of tax payers money.

You can’t have both outgoing and incoming Pms in the same aircraft in case of emergency, bit like the 2 pilots have different meals. Not a case of economics I’m afraid.

Probably true Screwy, but in the 21st Century with WFH via the internet quite normal, surely it could have been done on Teams or similar.

Hi Screwy…with today’s technology and the fact that the flight time amounts to just over an hour I can’t see that any emergency couldn’t be handled from a first class seat on a private jet.

Can't kiss hands on Teams. Not without causing a fuss anyway.

In the context of what sorting out the cost of living crisis is going to cost an extra private jet is neither here nor there. And if it's good enough for Me-me-meghan.....

Mind you they could have made Boris come back on the train. He has no other urgent appointments today.

I can’t see anything wrong with Me-me-love-her Meghan traveling by private jet when the travel costs are met through other means other than tax payers money.

She should thumb a lift and think of the environment
