I use MS Edge and have to log in every time ... hardly a hardship though.

As an aside our energy supplier OVO refuses to allow me to logon to my Account with them. They fix it and then it loses my email and password again. They say I should use Chrome and an App ... I say P*** O**, as the customer I will use whatever suits me. They are presently investigating the problem.

You sound like me Moby, subtle :D

Oddly we are with OVO and use Edge on the PC and have no problem accessing our account.
I am presently wondering if I have a setting within Edge that is causing this to happen ... any ideas ?

Disable all extensions/add-ons and try again.
If that works enable them one at a time and see which one causes the problem.

Thanks Ken

Listing MS Edge ' Extensions ' displays Norton Software only.

Out of interest I cannot get this site, and others, to ' Remember Me ' so am I deleting the wrong Cookies or deleting stuff on Browser exit that could be causing this to happen ?

Norton Software only.
Norton has always been notorious for creating more problems than it solves.

I stopped using Norton over 20 years ago because it was so unstable.

I stopped using Norton 50 years ago when it dumped me in a ditch, never had that problem with the Triumph

Same here, for the laptop I now rely solely on Microsoft defender, and common sense for the phone.

I don't understand why any personal user installs anything other than Microsoft Defender ... it is perfectly adequate for a home computer, is free, effective and does not chew up resources like some of the alternatives. I know some look at benchmarks etc. and see something doing better than something else, but that often has more to do with the time of the day the benchmark was run rather than the actual software.

I often get computers through my hands with people saying they have got a virus, a trojan or claiming they have been hijacked. I can count the number of instances on one hand where that has been true ... in all other cases it has been a lack of knowledge on how to use it that has been the underlying problem.

Not too au fait with Microsoft Defender but does it have a ' Safe Web ' facility like wot Norton does.

Using Norton I can recall a number of occasions when sites that I wished to use had bright red ' Keep Out ' flags on them, without that notification I would have happily entered a site that was probably virus infected. No they weren't porn sites, in recent times one was a pub and another is a reputable local company that sells smokeless coal in 25kg bags.

Chrome occasionally warns me that I am trying to access a red flag site on my phone, cruise critic, David's community and P&O have all figured in their red flag list.
I doubt that Norton is likely to be any more reliable at predicting rogue sites.

Since I dredged this topic back up Moby's energy bills have gone to pot, but my forum experience on Chrome on my phone seems to have settled down again.

I blame Boris Liz Rishi Elon Musk

I have had problems since last Christmas and have posted them on here. But just now I went into our Forum and got in as fast as I do on all other sites I use ie shopping info etc. Then I noticed I was logged out. I then logged back in with my details and lo and behold it took the usual 18 seconds to accept my login, then wait the usual 18 seconds to select a topic and read it. Is there a clue there to my problems with speed? I have Chrome on my laptop.

A good free alternative for safe web would be the Malwarebytes extension for your browser ... although browsers have been getting better at reporting dubious sites.

That would seem to suggest that you have a problem with cookies and/or your cookie browser settings as that is the only difference between being logged in and not being logged in.

Sorry, missed this one earlier.

The solution was an interesting one ( ish ) insomuch that my OVO Logon was failing because, for some reason, I was being routed to SSE ( the energy company I was with before I was transferred to OVO ).

I had planned on telling them about my mate Merv who's Logon worked ok using Edge ... but sadly it was sorted before we reached the Mexican stand off position.

Frequent problems at the moment on this site.
I never have had problems before.
Constantly being asked to log in and its taking forever even to move to another topic.
I've not done anything differently.

I am not seeing these sort of problems on this site, but I am finding that the recent CC upgrade has made their response times far worse.

After very rarely seeing the login request, I now have just signed in for the 5th time today since lunchtime. I am hoping David has been tweeking something and beggared it up and it will sort itself out tomorrow, fingers crossed.
