Just a thought…. we were using Bullguard which has recently been taken over by Norton…this proved to be troublesome for a few days while the reconfiguration process took place…things were very slow for a few days.

Same here. Prefered Bullguard. Don't think I'll be renewing with Norton.Onelife wrote: 31 Jan 2023, 12:43Just a thought…. we were using Bullguard which has recently been taken over by Norton…this proved to be troublesome for a few days while the reconfiguration process took place…things were very slow for a few days.
No problems on the forum side of things apart from the age it takes between postings which David explained why.

Wow. I've not had the logging out problem for ages but today everytime I close down and reopen the site on my phone it needs me to login again. I've not changed a thing honest Guv and neither the phone nor the browser (Chrome) has been updated since it worked perfectly yesterday.
Maybe it's that Chinese balloon..

And I have not changed anything either. Are you sure that your browser has not updated without you knowing like wot apps do?Mervyn and Trish wrote: 06 Feb 2023, 18:47I've not changed a thing honest Guv and neither the phone nor the browser (Chrome) has been updated since it worked perfectly yesterday.

Pretty sure not but you never know for sure. It is literally every time today. I've logged in at least 5 times! Never been this bad before. I'm going to try a different browser.

Re: Frequent login request
I am still having the same problem David, I have been using Chrome but now trying firefox, so will see if that has the same problem.
However assuming we are not all mad, or just too computer illiterate to know what we are doing, is there anything you can suggest that will cure this problem, or are we going to have to sign in everytime we leave the site for more than 30 minutes.

Very strange how it affect some and not others.

Re: Frequent login request
I really have no idea why some have this problem and others don't.
One possibility if you are using a mobile phone is that if you are moving around then the wifi connection and/or the mobile data connection is using different IP addresses which would trigger logging in again.

Re: Frequent login request
The Firefox test I initiated yesterday seems to have fixed the logon issue, I have just gone back in and it updated wothout a fresh login. So it appears that it is Chrome that has the issue.

I always long in and when finished log out. Never found it a problem. I'm a bit bemused reading of all the problems a lot of you are experiencing as I just jog along happily.
Don't worry, be happy

Re: Frequent login request
It's certainly Chrome with me at the moment - though having said that since I mentioned it I've not had a single hiccup! But in the past it was the Samsung Internet browser that was doing it and when I switched to Chrome it was fine for ages. In my latest effort to work it out I'm now logged in on both browsers and neither has chucked me out. I never log out, rarely turn the phone off and am normally on my home wi-fi which is never off, though I very occasionally use the site on mobile data. I'll have to keep a mental note to see if that affects the pattern. I do close the browser sometimes but that doesn't seem to make any difference one way or the other. If I've left the browser and phone on and the site logged it it still sometimes chucks me out as soon as I refresh to check for new posts.towny44 wrote: 07 Feb 2023, 09:20The Firefox test I initiated yesterday seems to have fixed the logon issue, I have just gone back in and it updated wothout a fresh login. I certainly don't blame David or the site because clearly not everyone has the problem and not all the time. Last time others were having issues I was sailing along. And I never have the problem on my home PC, only on the phone or tablet.
I was going to say it's the only site I have the problem with, but thinking about it it's the only one I use this way. Facebook, Sainsburys etc I use through their own Apps rather than any browser. The only other site I use on the mobile phone browser that I log into I know has a time out if I am inactive for too long. So I have no real comparison.
It's not really a major problem, just a minor inconvenience sometimes and a mystery. There are bigger problems - like President Putin and sunbed hoggers and people dressing scruffy on posh nights for example.

Re: Frequent login request
I'm still having the same problem, have for ages but I'm not complaining as I said before. I always use a laptop, have never used an app or my phone. I too use Chrome. There was an occasion last week when much to my surprise when I logged in first thing I got straight in, no waiting at all but it still took ages going between topics. Sometimes if I go back later in the day, depends how long the gap is, I can get straight in but not always. I never log out, I just seem to get logged out anyway. Who knows!
