Being very astute I know that the ill-informed opinions of most who have contributed on this topic have done so with a tinge of “here’s our chance to have a go at Onelife”Manoverboard wrote: 17 Apr 2023, 12:39Indeed not ... So let he who thinks there isn’t any truth in what I say speak first.

I wasn't the demonstrators fault that horse got spooked at the first fence. If the horse was upset why wasn't he withdrawn?

The sport you know something about has made massive improvements in car safety and to the conditions in how they approach race meetings, much like what The BHA has done for the Grand National…unfurtunatly unlike with motor racing you cannot build a metal cage round a race horse or indeed a boxer’s head or come to that a footballer’s head in order that they restrict injury or death through their sport. Yes ‘it could be argued that horse do not have a choice in the matter but as I have stated most horses rarely find themselves on a race track for more than a couple of hours of their life…. the other time is spent in the paddock or in training doing what they are bred to do.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 17 Apr 2023, 12:30You're absolutely right. Hi Paul, it more than likely did influence their mental state…thoroughbreds are very highly strung at the best of times and with all the disruption at the start this will not have helped. Trainers can't just withdraw a horse just before a race unless under the supervision of a vet…with 39 horses all getting all spooked up it would have been impossible for a vet to make that call on any one horse. Is that the bit after they retire from racing. As Neddy said, "bring it on"Onelife wrote: 17 Apr 2023, 13:47as I have stated most horses rarely find themselves on a race track for more than a couple of hours of their life…. the other time is spent in the paddock or in training doing what they are bred to do.

“Neddy” doesn’t sound like the name of a horse that has earnt its keep,,,,Neddy should live for today and not look to the future..me thinks!Ray B wrote: 17 Apr 2023, 14:09Is that the bit after they retire from racing. A bit like some of the horses you put your money on. I presume they are all called Dobbin methinks. You'd be much better off putting your money in a piggy bank and betting with Monopoly money.Onelife wrote: 17 Apr 2023, 14:24“Neddy” doesn’t sound like the name of a horse that has earnt its keep,,,,Neddy should live for today and not look to the future..me thinks!

There is no doubt that over the years I’ve probably blown a few grand but I’m older and wiser now so there’s no way I’m going to risk losing my £3 million pound house, three cars and my new ride on mower.oldbluefox wrote: 17 Apr 2023, 16:39A bit like some of the horses you put your money on. I know how I feel on a Saturday night when my team has lost yet again (and then having to face PTE, Mob and the rest who have had a better day) and I haven't lost any money on them.
I just can't bear to think of your sad, little face when Dobbin has lumbered in last again.

You’re all heart Foxy, but rest assured I don’t back anything named Dobbin as I know from experience only donkeys are called Dobbin and Neddy. There has however been a few winners of late with the name "foxes" in them, but sadly for you none have any connection with football…anyone got a tissue?oldbluefox wrote: 17 Apr 2023, 18:18I know how I feel on a Saturday night when my team has lost yet again (and then having to face PTE, Mob and the rest who have had a better day) and I haven't lost any money on them.

Bit of a come down, 5.15 at Anfield one day then the Dairymilk round delivering gold top at 6.00 the next morning presumably for Express Dairies.
