Absolutely OL. Over the years, starting with Blair who wanted to give the Tories a bloody nose and opened the borders to migrants we have literally been giving our country and our culture away. In London recently down Oxford St and Regent St there was no mention of Easter. The decorations were all dedicated to Ramadan. Can you honestly see Easter being the focus of attention in the capital cities of our Muslim countries? In the race to become divergent/multi-cultural we are slowly eroding the British way of life and literally excluding it to the woke brigade.Onelife wrote: 30 Apr 2024, 10:20The way I see things is that we have allowed ourselves to be governed by laws such as Human Rights and the United Nations convention laws of the sea which are making it nigh impossible to stop the illegal immigrants attempting theses crossings…we need to absolve ourselves from the repercussions of taking a much tougher line, a line whereby we use a short, sharp, this is what happens if you breach our shores illegally. I would advocate a policy of “sea push backs” and direct return flights from where these migrants have fled. This may sound heartless but I don’t think a large percentage of asylum seekers are genuinely fleeing persecution but do so for economic opportunity…. whilst accepting this is a broad statement which will not cover all personal circumstances.
I believe New Zealand have halted immigration because they are 'full'. We are but a tiny island struggling to meet the needs of the NHS service, education, rail infrastructure, welfare etc but continue to take more and more in who are not contributing but are relying on our welfare services. How much longer can we sustain this model before we wake up and decide we cannot provide for the ills of the rest of the world?
Neither should our own culture be diminished. By all means enjoy the cultures of those who come to these shores but that should not be at the expense of the vagaries of the British way of life. Time to get our priorities sorted, get tough and stand up for ourselves.
