Shiney, I suppose you'd fry them up with a piece of fruit and think they're delicious

No pun intended but I would have to end up looking like a stick insect.
Ugh the thought of it.

If I could have them in a sauce with my fillet steak, chips, onion rings, mushrooms and grilled tomato’s I would certainly be happy to do my bit for world hunger

No way - the UN can urge all they like, but there's no way I'd go along with this.

I suppose the honest answer for most people would be "If I was hungry enough!"

And just how many would you have to eat in order to "fight world hunger"?
There is also a basic flaw with this idea - some "do gooder" will complain about the insect rights and take the UN to court!

They will welcome this in Africa.....If they killed a cockroack a family of six would get a leg each.

Alternatively - grabbing the boots and kippers and running for a place to hide - kurb the increase in world population.

To be totally accurate I have always said, and believe, true poverty does not exist in the UK, except where it is self inflicted .. it does exist elsewhere in this world though.
However the comment was meant to be an extension of the humour you had used

Had a look around the garden, I'm a bit short on insects, not enough to make a meal.
Now if we get the big slugs this year like we had in the wet summer last year they may make a change from chicken on the BBQ. Slug anyone.

I'm sure the slugs will be visiting later - it hasn't stopped raining all day.
