But your putting money down so I'll stick with supporting your choice
What did I do....must have been crazy :o  :wtf:
I was passing a bookies at the right time and decided to support your choice ...despite the fact I prefered EBT Guard I went & stuck £1 e/way on that blooming carthorse Epictetus  Such good odds I couldn't resist....I love a big priced outsider but today I was a fool  should have put my money on EBTs Guard

Also I think I was right about that jockey Oliver Stammers & the way he rode Illusionist....in my opinion should have been with the main body of horses rather than lag behind and then get blocked preventing him from getting a place. Maybe a closer look at Illusionists next race...he can still race at 8 years old I think given the right race.

I know the feeling Pompey; I was in Ludlow today putting my bet on so decided to have a walk through the farmer’s market at which point I bumped into a stall selling lovely looking sausage rolls…they tasted lovely but at £3.80 I must have been crazy!

At 5/1 - 3rd you would just about broken even…that’s half of what I paid for my sausage roll…

Illusionist looked an awkward ride, not so sure the jockey played a part in that but as you say with a clear run he would have finished a lot closer.

Lord Bertie…was sweeting up badly before the start then ran with the choke out for the best part of 5f…could never win under those conditions…. he won’t be wearing a hood the next time he runs.

Epeciteus…had no excuses as far as I could see.

Interesting choices....
I notice Stearling Knight is up against Rhoscolyn..(who likes soft and beat EBTs Guard ( 1 mile ) but maybe over 7f maybe he won't do as well)
Democracy Dilemma is also one of Purosangue owners horses
Rohan I read....."formerly top-class but has lost enthusiasm" but maybe you've picked the right race for him to come to life.

Longchamp tomorrow has some big horses running including the filly Adventure who came second in the arc last year.

Hi Pompey, all four of my selections have been running below par so their odds probably reflect their chances. A return to anything like their old form will give me a fighting chance of a nice return.

It’s difficult to weigh up the French form to that of what has been achieved in the UK but Whirl looks to be improving with every run so Adventure is going to have to be something special if it’s going to trouble Whirl. imo

That one at Haydock made all the difference... & by over 4 lengths

Still think Adventure will beat Whirl and will be interested in the other races at Lonchamp today looking at big outsider Mont St Michel
Is he there as a pacemaker for Los Angeles or could he have an outside chance

Hi Pompey, as they say “you only need one winner to turn a loss into a profit”

As you rightly say there are some interesting races at Longchamp today and having looked at the race with A P O’Brien’s horses in the 1.33. I think it strange that Lorden has chosen Mont St Michel over Los Angeles because on current form this is a massive step up in class for Mont St Michel. That being said he was only 3 lengths behind Kyprios last year which reads very well.
Can he win in the grade? I doubt it but at 33/1.

Just off for lunch so I’ll watch the race when I get back.

I see Overlooked is running tomorrow at Newcastle…surely this time?

Hi Pompey, you certainly gave “Adventure” a good call, and didn’t he deliver in style…I see that he is now joint fav for the Arc.
That being said I wouldn’t be taking anti-post on him until you know the draw and what the ground conditions are…as you know the Prix de l’Arc is very draw dependent and can turn to a bog overnight.

Hi Onelife, you said......" and didn’t he deliver in style…I see that he is now joint fav for the Arc." are you suggesting that this filly prefers the use of he & him pronouns when being talked about :o
I was thinking about having an anti-post bet on Adventure on Saturday when she was 12/1 but unfortunately was nowhere near a bookies.
But with the new odds it's not a bet I'd do. Economics however is maybe worth considering instead...vet said he had bled from the nose when he came 6th in his last race but my concern is he hasn't run over 1m2f...can he do the extra ?
Also Gethin is in the betting for the arc at 66/1 but with having only 2 races I can't see him running

Now about Overlooked.....do you remember at beginning of August saying

"Hi Pompey, I see ‘Overlooked’ 3.45 Beverly runs tomorrow (one I tipped up a few weeks back) Ok’ I know he’s still 0 from 18 but in a weak race such as this it could be the day he breaks his duck… I must be quackers…

You seem to have a real addiction to this horse....never been 1st or 2nd and yet you keep believing
I don't get it however some of the punters think he might win as he is favourite....I'm still baffled

Yes I think you must be quackers

Hi Pompey, in theses crazy days of gender orientation I had to pick one or the other and hope not to offend.

If I were to back one in the Arc it would be “Leffard” yes it was beaten fav in the following race after “Adventure” race but he/she looked to have plenty of running left at the finish, so given a fast pace I can see this one giving them all a good run for their money - 50/1
Yes’, I’m a glutton for punishment and if I knew then what I know now I would be £40 better off…. whilst this isn’t a recommended betting strategy, I’m backing the donkey till it wins....£10 win

Yes I can see why you chose Leffard and he has won a group 1 race before.
Maybe, just maybe this time Overlooked has a chance of a good result....at least 2 tips on racing tv and now Elletaria is a non runner

Statistically, fewer than 50% of all race horses ever win a race ....but losing by a neck was so close.
I've been taking note ( as you advised ) of a horse that has actually won.....Yes Purosangue is racing at Doncaster on Sunday
Wonder where he will be in the betting or if he gets tipped
I'll be just as interested in the result of Betfred Champagne Stakes Group 2 for 2yr olds at Doncaster on Saturday.

Hi Pompey, with regard to “Overlooked” I’m starting to wish I had… this horse now owes me £50.

Unfurtunatly, things won’t be getting any easier as he won’t be getting any respite from the handicapper after that run.

Once again, I thank you for your diligence in keeping your eye out for forthcoming declarations. I hadn’t noticed that Pursangue was entered up for Sunday. This is very interesting because as you know it has been declared for the Ayr Gold Cup six days later. My theory is that it now won’t run in the Ayr Gold Cup and will now take its chances on Sunday at Doncaster. The reason I think …. the going at Doncaster is currently showing G/S Soft in places with more predicted showers, whereas Ayr looks to be having a relatively dry week which wouldn’t suit Pursangue.

I generally have a couple of bigger bets a year and this will be one of them.

So have been following your positiveness that Purosangue will win.....yesterday I was passing the bookies and decided to make a bet.
The price yesterday was 16/1....today it is down to 11/1 so I hope you have already made your bet at the higher price
So yes I put £100 e/way on Purosangue at 16/1  Ok it was really £1 e/way maybe I exaggerated a little bit
I now believe Purosangue might well get a place and that will bring a nice little profit of £3 and hopefully I'll be able to watch the race
If he wins that would be even better 8-) There seem to be 2 tips for him including TV Racing Dave Nevison.

Hi Pompey…I’m positive that the horse has everything in his favour which is why I’ve staked £30-win £10 place. Unfurtunatly I couldn’t take the 16/1 as I couldn’t get to the bookies until this morning - I’ve taken 14/1. I note that its been backed and is now as low as 9/1 in places.

Win or lose…Keep Smiling!

Hi Onelife.....14/1 this morning was still not bad considering it's now 10 or 9/1
I know you're not one for putting on small amounts on like me.....but here's an idea.. if you go into the bookies tomorrow to pick up your winnings you could ask at the desk for the anti-post price for Purosangue for the BetMGM Challenge Cup at Ascot on 4th October. At the moment its at 40/1 so it might be worth putting a couple of quid on in case he gets to run....at the moment 66 horses entered. If he runs as well as you think tomorrow, then that price will definitely go down

Hi Pompey, as yet Betfred hasn’t got that race priced up for their anti-post market and I don’t think they will open one up just for me. :) But you are right, if it runs a big race tomorrow his price will shorten… but do bear in mind that if he wins tomorrow, he will go up in the weights, that’s not to say he isn’t worth a speculative bet (if you can get a bet on) because at his current mark he is reasonably well in at the weights and a few lbs extra shouldn’t be such an inconvenience.

Let’s just hope he gets out of bed the right side and runs the race I/and the betting market thinks he is capable of.

Well yet again the price drops for Purosangue down to 7/1 but mainly due to two big threats (now non-runners) Ten Pounds, Royal Velvet and two other horses not running. Purosangue now races from stall 13 instead of 17.

Go Go Go Purosangue.......this is the time to give Onelife a big win today and put a smile on his face :D

Here’s hoping  …. we’ll deal with the Rule 4’s if and when it wins…just hoping Pocklington struggles in the ground.
