I think that you also have to remember that Amber was a last minute replacement for the injured Dani Dyer and if memory serves joined the cast with only a couple of days notice. In those circumstances it was probably decided that they needed somebody with a bit of experience otherwise it could have become a car crash.

But you could also say the same about actors (look at how Alex portrayed the character in the dance) or musicians who are used to interpreting the music or athletes who are used to the work ethic.

The contestants are, by definition, celebrities who all bring something to the table.

If the criteria for being the "best dancer" was based on achievement over the series then I would agree that Karen should win.

I think it's very unfortunate for Amber, who is obviously the best dancer of the last few, that she has had such previous experience which puts her on a different level to start with. If the whole idea of the programme is that the contestants are people who have had little or no dancing experience and will see how much they can learn over the weeks of the programme then Amber certainly shouldn't be there. I know she was a last minute replacement which the BBC needed but if she comes in with London stage experience of an experienced dancer then it's a waste of time the other people entering, they stand little chance. I think the BBC have to decide whether it's a competition for non dancers or is it going to be a competition for people who can already dance and have experience. I don't see how they can have it both ways. I would guess that part of the problem is that the BBC is finding it difficult to recruit Celebrities who are willing firstly to give up the time which it could entail if the person goes right through to the final, and secondly are prepared to give the effort and chance that they might be injured, as people in the past have been.

But there is a vast difference between dancing on stage and ballroom dancing. If you are going to exclude anyone with previous dancing experience then how would you rate somebody who dances socially

Yes I feel for Amber too, but unless she's daft she'll have realised she wouldn't win but she's been well paid for a few weeks work raising her profile.

I don't think it's a serious dance competition in any sense at all. If it was they wouldn't let us amateurs have any say on who wins, with viewers voting on any number of different criteria.

It's a family friendly entertainment show based on dance and as such is hugely successful.

I disagree. Bring it on!!! The anticipation of improvement to absolute novices would be worth watching. Who would have thought Karen would be up there in the final when she set off?

Not surprising really, over the years sports men and women have proved very successful in strictly, probably because they have the ability to train hard to ensure they can perform at their best.

But they wouldn't all be Karens. There'd be more Les's, Nicks, Jeremy's, Vanessas, Thomas's etc. I couldn't bear 12 weeks of plodding donkeys.

And anyway Karen versus Vanessa is no more a level playing field than Amber versus Karen. And I like it when the underdogs start to shine against those we expect to win on day one.

Well, that’s three winners I’ve had today…. shame that I didn’t have any money on the third one.

Loved the comedy sketch at the end where Craig read out a personal letter of gratitude to Claudia and Tess…. did you see how disappointed they were when Craig announced it was from Queen Cam….it had me in stitches

Without doubt the best final I’ve witnessed with anyone of them deserving of the glitterball.
