If Trump had gifted all the armaments he and the Israelis have used on Iran to Ukraine, then just maybe Putins forces might have been pushed bask into Russia.
The world then would have been a safer place, and without Russias support Iran wouldn't have been much of a problem.

John - how many times have you been told to stop using common sense?

Anyway it gives Trump the opportunity to boast about stopping another war,.

After taking a pop at us that we are to late to the party, he doesn't want our war ships , Starmers ability to govern. Why is he now wanting us to clear up his mess in Strait of Hormuz ?

He's worried now the Iranians might want to assassinate him. I reckon they'll need to join the queue. Probably headed by the CIA.

Now I know I’m but a simple man but, if only 20% of the oil and gas comes through Hormuz, then why cant we source it from the 80% that is still out there.?

Like I said,I’m only a simple man and someone will tell me the answer.

I suspect that there are a number of factors involved.

Firstly there are the sanctions on Russian oil - although it seemed highly convenient for Trump to lift some of those. Then it is possible that the oil fields/refineries that supply the other 80% are running at capacity so they cannot provide more oil and a final possibility is that the supply chain does not exist to move any more oil from the other oil fields, bearing in mind that many tankers are locked in the Strait of Hormuz.

I wish Trump would make his mind up as to what he wants. First he wants help then when it is not forthcoming it's too late as "the war is over". Then when he finds that the US does not have the resources to protect the Strait of Hormuz he "demands" help from other countries and when that is not forthcoming "we don't need any help"

The man is totally deranged.

Interesting Guardian article, especially for those who still believe this war was necessary.

No doubt there will be an "alternative" version of that story before long.

This whole situation was inevitable when you have incompetent, inexperienced people in key roles because they are "mates" and "yes men" to an equally incompetent and inexperienced President who refuses to take advice from the experts because he thinks he knows better.

Pretty much what the article says. Trump had a choice. He chose war over diplomacy (or cookies).

Were 9/11 - 7/7 “necessary”….not directly linked to Iran but there is strong evidence to suggest compliance.

I don’t agree with the way Trump has gone about this but then I don’t agree with Iran launching thousands of missiles into Israel as necessary either.

But if you decided to build your house in someone else's garden, surely you would seek to be a good neighbour, rather than keep building further extensions on his property, and being a right pain in the neck.

I think that the biggest difference between the Iran war and the Vietnam war is Donald Trump knew how to get himself out of the Vietnam war

I think he’s talking about Israeli settlers moving Palestinians off their land and taking it over. These are lands where Palestinians have peacefully lived and farmed for years until Israelis decided they wanted it. It’s appalling.

History is strewn with land occupations, it doesn't make it right or desirable but it can always be justified by those who are doing the occupying.
