As Trump lashes out at everyone, including now Israel for an attack he didn't know about, who is the tail and who is the dog? And if Trump carries out his threat to destroy the world's largest gas field and the central heating goes off and the lights go out who will still think this is all a good idea?

But the lights will not go out in America so it won't matter as the rest of the world, and especially Europe, are of little or no consequence to Trump.

I never thought it was a good idea from the outset and was destined to end in tears.

I think that would depend on whether or not Iran has Nuclear weapon aspirations, if they have then you have two options…do nothing and wait and see what happens to the rest of the middle east, or you try and curtail those aspirations for fear of what this would mean for the rest of the world.

It is without question that Iran has nuclear aspirations so there is only one option - wait and see. The only effect that this war has had is in probably slowing down those aspirations.

For all his bravado Trump really has not got a clue as to what is going on and even less of a clue how to end this war

Iranian people are not stupid, but at the same time, upset them, and I don't think they will hesitate to intimidate or use a Nuclear weapon against the enemy. It's this why I think it is dangerous to allow them that opportunity .

There's a big difference between having aspirations and having weapons. Even US Intelligence is very clear they were nowhere near the latter. And Netanyahu's warmongering, because he's the driver behind this, not Trump, only reinforces the former.

Did anyone see any of Netanyahu's press conference this evening? Most of what I heard was just trotting out the "party line" but there was one bit that I seem to think went over the heads of the reporters as I have not seen it mentioned.

Netanyahu was saying, quite rightly, that the world needs to have an alternative route for oil other than the Strait of Hormuz and his plan was to have a pipeline going north to the Mediterranean coming out guess where? You got it - Israel, meaning that Israel (or more precisely Netanyahu)
would then be in control of 20% of the world's oil. Obviously we can all trust Netanyahu with that.

I have now been able to join the dots.

First off this war is nothing to do with nuclear weapons that is the justification - it is about oil.

Trump has stated that he is not about regime change so what he is doing is creating the scenario where Iran blocks Strait of Hormuz thus restricting the flow of oil and at the same time planting the seeds that an alternative route for the oil is required. Netanyahu's role in this is to destabilise Iran so that there is no confidence that the Strait of Hormuz will ever be safe thus enforcing the need for an alternative.

Trump and Netanyahu have decided that there will be a joint US/Isreal venture to build a pipeline/terminal that will be financed by the Arab states (either for construction or usage, or both). The pipeline will, of course, be built by one of Trump's "mates" who has probably already got the contract, and where Trump will get his cut.

The result of this means that either directly or indirectly Trump will have control of another 20% of the world's resources to go with his rare earth minerals in Ukraine, Venezuelan oil and his attempt to control Greenland, which will probably resurface once this is over.

Trump wants to be in the position of controlling the world's resources so that other countries have to go "cap in hand" begging for them.

Tell me I am wrong.

Sounds about right to me. My only doubt is that all seems too well worked out for Trump's tiny brain!

Probably been drip fed to him during the many meetings he has had with Netanyahu who probably is capable of devising the plan and selling it to Trump.

The only problem with that plan is that the pipeline will need to be montrously huge to carry all the oil that currently passes through the strait of Hormuz on a daily basis.

Another cracker by Trump.. .
Trump with the Japanese Prime Minister was asked about his attack on Iran, "we wanted to take them by surprise" he replied, then in a very awkward bit where he said "Nobody knows most about surprises than Japan and Pearl Harbour " he tried to blabbering his way out.

But Netanyahu says he didn't drag Trump into the war. And surely he's a man we can all trust? :wtf:

I'm surprised he has managed to stay on this for so long - he normally gets bored and moves on to the next project after two hours!
