when you say escorting, you don't mean as an escort surely? or were you just arm candy for the evening

But Soiled Nightie, there are some questions that must remain unasked, particularly where ladies are concerned . You really are an oik at times.

The Queen once waved and smiled at me but Philip, bless him, looked the other way...It was during her Maj's Golden Jubilee year...She went down our road on her way to a posh lunch at the Addington Palace (former home of the Archbishop of Canterbury and hunting grounds of Henry 8)...We waited ages and ages for her to drive by and when she finally did she looked straight at me, waved and mouthed to Pip..." there's Paul the Palace fan..Watcha Paul" or something like that...There was about 100 of us waiting to see them but she only spoke to me.

Actually my main memory of that day was a mutual friend who was a member of staff at the Palace of Westminster getting steamed up cos the bins hadn't been emptied, "and who knows what might have been planted therein!"

No, what happened was that the gentleman who I was escorting that particular evening had bumbled off to talk shop which left a space with no body on it.

Sweet lady, I think you might want to rephrase that slightly, in case certain members of the forum misinterpret it ( mentioning no names to save them from being embarrassed, but their initials are Dark Knight....)
Hi Kev, didn't see you there, mate

Re: Prince Andrew and Prince Edward
I admired Prince Andrew during the Falklands War as he deliberately put himself in danger flying decoy missions in his helicopter. However, my respect for him diminished as his reputation as "Air Miles Andy" grew.
Edward, I've always felt to be a bit wet. Couldn't hack the pace of being a Marine (not that I could have, either, but then I wouldn't have joined up).
Margaret made an official visit to Scampton in the early 80s. Everything had to spick and span. Military kerbstones are painted alternately black and white. As you know, paint doesn't stick to concrete very well. So some little herbert was sent round to repaint them. With a spray gun. His work was inspected and it was noticed that the paint had sprayed over onto the grass. I kid you not, the next day, he was back, painting the grass green. Margaret was being entertained to luncheon in the Officers' Mess. A full rehearsal was held, with someone's wife standing in as the princess. All the invited officers wives had to have a brand new dress for the rehearsal, and another brand new dress for the main event.
Anne made an official visit to Newton in the mid-70s. The ladies' toilet in the building I was to work in was refurbished in expectation of her needing to powder her nose. It cost £5,000. She never used it.
