I've never heard of it being called Kingston upon Hull before. Even the locals I know refer to it as 'ull. As a kid I followed Eddie Waring's rugby league show and always thought it was Hulking Stone Rovers!!

I used to work for the Health Department in Kingston Upon Hull in the 60's and lo betide anybody who called it just Hull there. Every addressed letter and envelope had to have the full title on it. Even when we left Hull I still always put Kingston Upon Hull on letters and envelopes until some time in the 80's when it was too much for me to write at the time.

Of course it is in God's own County.

Still undergoing the 'Ull incomers Initiation Ceremonies. I believe they like to be sure that anyone moving up there can take 18 pints of brown ale, a double portion of 'addock and chips, sweet and sour pork and a jumbo kebab !
