I've seen Katie Hopkins on ITV's This Morning programme and I'm sure they keep having her on to debate this and that because she is so ridiculous. I saw her on the names debate and decided that she is an insufferable snob but am glad to say that she lost the debate by a very large margin to a woman who was an Irish immigrant and whose two children have both graduated as doctors. Spare us from the likes of Katie Hopkins.
I agree Mo. I can't understand why this woman is on television at all. I can't bear her.

There's a difference between unusual names and chav names and I think that's what she was getting at !.

Hopkins has a very narrow prejudiced view. She obviously thinks she is a better class than some but has shown her ignorance by saying what she has. What does she consider to be good manners about what you say in society? Where does she stop? Do her children only play with white children for example? For a child to be judged on its name by the likes of Hopkins is abhorrent and I can't imagine what insufferable little darlings her children will become because of her prejudices.

reminds me of the granny (Mrs Bucketesque) who was delighted to find that most of her grandchild's class at school had double barrelled names...

No one was sure how to break it to her that these days double barrelled generally no longer means posh, but unmarried

My daughter posted a link on her Facebook page, to this interview on you tube.

I thought it very amusing, especially when Holly Willibooby, was dying to say more, but had to hold herself back.

They have people like this on the show, because it creates controversy, they have many of these types of discussion on the programme, discussing both ends of the extreme, it creates debate.

Mind you, when you see some the names, some mothers saddle their children with, you have to question their sanity.

Also I believe there are many people like her about, I think at the end of the show, although she lost the debate, she had 30% support, from the viewers.

At the end of the interview Holly Willoughbooby actually told Hopkins to 'just stop'. I understand where Hopkins is coming from but she should at least give the child a chance. Even if it was badly behaved it would show her own children how not to carry on. I wonder how many genuine double-barrelled landed gentry Hooray Henrys and Henriettas there are who are loud, inconsiderate, boorish and ill-mannered ? I thought Hopkins' latest debate showed her how shallow she is. Worryingly, 30% of the population agreed with her. Prejudice is alive and well ! I think it is terrible to label a child and her children will surely perpetuate her prejudice.

I think I can, to some degree, see where this woman is coming from. From what we've seen, a lot of the people who give their children "unfortunate" names are somewhat lacking in certain social skills and, as they are the main role model for their offspring, these poor kids then develop into the sort of people she doesn't want her own kids to associate with. On the other hand, if the ill-advisedly named can't mix with the like of Miss Hopkins' children, they won't learn otherwise (assuming that La Hopkins is a good role model to her own kids in the first place!).

I know what I mean when I say the above, not sure I expressed it properly though!

I know what you mean Silver Shiney, but she should still give the child the benefit of the doubt and after that if she still thinks that the child is badly behaved then fair enough, but to take action just on a child's name is beyond the pale. She is tarring everyone with the same brush and it is not the child's fault. You just can't judge a book by its cover but sadly people do. Hopkins is in danger of becoming a caricature of herself. One of her children might very well be working for one of those 'chavs' in the future. Someone I know doesn't want to take her children to the local grassed play area because of the bad language from even the smallest child. My view is that you can't keep your children in a bubble. Instead you should teach them to be strong and not follow the herd, behave in an acceptable manner, and teach them that they don't have to be like the others or use bad language.

I had no idea who this Katie Hopkins was but decided after so many comments I should watch the you tube video, I've only just stopped laughing ... is this woman for real  what a total and utter snob, I note she mentioned "Brooklyn" so assume she would never mix with the likes of the Beckham's !!!!

As I never watch The Apprentice I hope she was one of them that got "fired"

Katie Hopkins Hopkins resigned from The Apprentice during the eleventh week of the third series in 2007. She was memorable on the programme for her controversial comments to other contestants. Having recently watched her engage in two debates on the This Morning programme I find that she attempts to really intimidate her opponent, turning and staring them full in the face when she has finished speaking. As I said earlier, if she carries on like this, she will just become a parody.

Mo, you say La Hopkins may become a parody. I think she's already achieved that!

I find it appalling that a child can be called 'not nice' and 'unacceptable' just because of their name. I did put in an earlier post of 2 families at the local school with names I consider odd, and without being snobbish their parents are of the screaming : swearing type but I always hope that children like this aspire to higher things.

It is absolute snobbery to tell your children they cannot mix with other little ones because of their name they see a person not a silly name.

I am sure that any parent on here at times have been concerned with the 'crowd' their children are mixing with but I don't think at any time it would involve a preconceived idea about a name.

I saw her on This Morning also. Holly and Philip did exceptionally well, I thought. I just wished that I'd still got the foam brick I had years ago (until one of the Affies got at it) The Lady sat along side her (with the opposing views), was very good and diginified.

This is about the third time Kate Hopkins has appeared on This Morning and, every time, she is controversial. Before anyone asks, I have my TV on in the Kitchen :(

On a personal note, many years ago, some Friends were home on Leave and were staying with her Parents. Some friends of theirs from Army were due to call. Our Friends had instructed their childen to be polite etc and to look after the visiting little girl, who had a very sweet name (so long ago I can't remember exactly). Well, what a surprise, she was the most naughty, rude child ever. Her name definitely didn't suit  (Not)

This has also reminded me of an incident at work - I must have been about 18 at the time (a heck of a long while ago) ;).

A colleague was typing a letter to a Pensioner (this was the Civil Service) and she just screamed out, what the b....... hell were his parents thinking of. This Pensioner was called Ernest Everard C@x - naivety at its best! I hope I don't get red penned for this.

On reflection, after that last performance of hers, I agree with you ! I don't like the idea that she may be being deliberately controversial because she has been engaged by the TV programme to be exactly that. I like to see a good debate but not happy if matters are manipulated. On the other hand, she might be one of those people who is addicted to publicity, whether it be good or bad. On the Apprentice she was beyond the pale, and I was hoping that one of the other contestants would punch her lights out. She reckons that she is a cut above, but she is absolutely not.
