Thank you Gill and everyone. My first grandchild and very special as it was an assisted pregnancy. I'm to be birth partner along with my son-in-law and just at the moment the excitement is tempered with apprehension. She is to have a hypnobirth, which I understand the Duchess of Cambridge was considering. It's not a crazy as it sounds - in fact not much different to the relaxation techniques I was taught in the weekly prenatal sessions at my local GP practice, but these days it's a case of DIY. The NHS only gives one three-hour session before birth nowadays, and most of that is watching a film of a birth and talking about breast feeding. She would be totally ignorant were it not for her research and her Mum, thankfully with paediatric nursing experience, too!
I shall let you all know when s/he (we don't know which) arrives, and thank you again for your good wishes. They are much appreciated.

Ann, being at the birth of a grandchild is an honour..Iv seen four of mine born. Harry, Ramsay and the twins Max and Ruby, all natural births. Its an amazing experience.( but sometimes scarey..be prepared for feeling totally useless..)
Best wishes to you all.. xxxxx
Wishing you

Ethelred? He was unready wasn't he? That wouldn't do.

Alfred was Great. Alfie is quite popular at the moment.

Hengist? Who was he? :?:

Oh good grief - that is such an easy question! Hengist is actually Hengist Pod. Hengist Pod as many people know with certainty was the ancient Briton who invented the square wheel. That wasn't much success and was later adapted into a dwelling accessory called a window. He became a gladiator and protector to Julius Ceasar. His wife was called Senna Pod.

I'm not sure of your sources, but at least this suggestion is entirely plausible

Disagree - I cannot see that having two Prince Andrew's would be "allowed" and if it was then it would inevitably lead to confusion.

King Andrew ( which he will be one day ) doesn't have the right ring to it .... does it

Has there ever been a King Andrew ??

I'm putting my money on James.

I suppose it's feasible for the new baby to be called Andrew, as the 'old' Prince Andrew is often referred to as the Duke of York these days.

But I don't think old Prince Andrew is a significant enough figure for the child to be named after.

I now think he'll be Prince George Philip Alexander John of Cambridge.

Perhaps we should have some sort of sweepstake on the names.

I've just Googled it - there were King Andrews of Hungary.

I quite like James as well.

I don't really mind what names they select - as long as he is healthy and happy that's it for me. It was lovely to see the baby 'playing' with his little fingers when his mother was holding him - aaaaah bless!

I've just looked at the odds to see what I'd get for Stavros James and it's not there! Prince Kevin is 150/1 though.

I don't think that Alexander would be a first name - mainly because Alexandr Orlov might have something to say about that!!! :P

If it was going to be Alexander, could you imagine the 'Compare the Meerkat' adverts to follow?
