Sunday Lunch

Unread post by Jan Rosser »

Apart from the roast chicken today's lunch is courtesy of my friends from the allotments - cabbage, runner beans, potatoes and carrots  I picked the blackberries for the tart myself which is just going in the oven. Everything smells scrummy - my mouth is watering  can't wait for it all to be cooked :lolno:

I have been given so much produce this year - yesterday made tomato soup - I just can't eat it all quickly enough so will freeze the soup ready for the cold winter days ahead.

This year seems to have been a bumper year for veg

Sounds lovely.

Roast chicken is even more fabulous if set aside in loose foil and allowed to rest for 30 minutes before putting any knife near it.

Dear Mr Kane

Shock horror upon horror

Went to Mr Sainsbuy

To buy my favourite healthy and delectable bunch of fastasleep SMB green leaved Watercress

All Watercress Land bunches have been pulververised due to ecoli outbreak in your exquisite enclave

I do hope you and your very lovely Val have not got the +++++

We too have been given lovely runner beans, broad beans and apples from our friends who dig! However today we are having a £10 meal for two from the shop with the two initials in the title. Roast gammon, rosemary potatoes followed by profiteroles. We have eaten all the beans. Miserable weather here today.

I'm now going to lie down  dinner was delicious if I say so myself ;) but I ate far too much as did my mother who declares she will not eat again today!

Dishwasher is loaded and kettle on for tea - nice afternoon now in front of the tv with the Sunday newspapers - it is absolutely chucking it down here - can't see me and the dog venturing out again today

I have no doubt I will hear all about the weather when my son who lives in Billinge up in the north west rings me later - if they FaceTime me I'm sure my granddaughters will show me too

How nice that so many made a contribution - apart from the chicken, of course, who made the ultimate sacrifice. :)

You are all making me feel hungry as we won't be eating until around 5ish, just about to prepare the veg

So for us:
Rib of Beef
Yorkshire Pud
Roast Potatoes
Carrots
Cauliflower Cheese
Peas
Runner Beans
Sprouts

Ooops just gone in the fridge and realised I had bought sprouts too so that's my five a day

Afraid not Jay as the pre Xmas diet is already underway, strangely enough we rarely have pudding and I don't buy biscuits and cake ( too tempting )

We are just back in from Sunday lunch ... we took a friend of Julies out who has been feeling very down lately.
Much better to get someone else to make it for you :)

gfw gfw:

(So good he named himself twice)

We are upstream from the Vitacress packing station and cress beds.

However the news has given slight cause for concern considering that due to major groundwater infiltration in to the sewer system due to the wet winter of 2011/12, the wet spring, summer and autumn of 2012 and the wet winter of 2012/13 over pumping of the sewer into the Bourne has occurred but ended about three months ago.

However you will be no doubt be relieved to know that none of the Kane household effluence was over pumped as we reside downstream of the three over pumping locations!

Our local branch of a national charity held our annual fundraising lunch today for 102 people and, as yet, none of us have eaten anything since we returned. :tired:

The committee do all the preparation and my contribution was 2 apple crumbles, (20 portions.) :tired: :tired:

Boiled ham, with every salad dish that you can think of and new potatoes, various homemade puddings or gateaux, served with ice cream or cream, tea and coffee.

All at the unbelievable price of £8.50.
