Your favourite confectionery

Unread post by oldbluefox »

I like chocolate - full stop, and I'm not too bothered whose chocolate it is although I prefer better quality chocolate than some that is on offer. If I am desperate I have even been known to eat cooking chocolate.
Given a choice I do love walnut whips, chocolate marshmallows and snowballs............................... and champagne or coffee truffles are just wonderful............... and P&O's chocolate covered strawberries.

What are your favourites?
I was taught to be cautious

I too love chocolate , as do most women I think. I don't have it in the house though as I can't resist it if it's there. Only eat it on special occasion like Christmas and then my husband buys me my favourite lindor chocolate. He loves Turkish delight, all kids sweets like cola bottles , lemon sherbets, strawberry bonbons, etc. he's not that keen on chocolate luckily so I don't have to share !

Dark chocolate. Don't mind who's and the stronger the better. Morrisons own is good.

I made some for JD's mates when she was at primary school.

One of them is still a close friend, so still sends in her order - she was 31 a few weeks ago. So I have until the 12th to get this year's batch made so's JD can deliver it

don't believe any stuff that says hand made.... it's usually chewy and disgusting.

Homemade is crumbly and melts in the mouth - and horribly addictive - If CS Lewis had tried it, Edmund would have asked the White Witch for it!

I made some last year..and we all ate it before Christmas...it was so yummy and yes very addictive. That's why I am leaving it as late as possible.

Chocolate - milk or white, not the plain stuff.

Sainsbury's recently had an offer on their own fruit and nut. Yummy.

By the way, ignore the "Best By" dates on chocolate. It never lasts that long.

And/or fudge.

I have to keep the blood sugar under control so I have been avoiding sweet things for a couple of years now. Dark chocolate is not too bad though, the darker the better.

Yorkie bar raisin and biscuit "Its not for girls". I stay away from the sweets aisle.

McVities dark choc digestives. Haven't had one for years!

My own home made chocolate brownies with walnout and glazed cherries. Oct 28th was the last batch. ;)

Snickers
Yorkie Raisn and Biscuit
Florentines
Chocolate Raisins
Peanut M&Ms

and the best ever...rum truffles.

That's for starters, off the top of my head.

Kenmo, you should visit HK Phooey's shop. I hear she's offering brazil nuts FOC to anyone who spends over £10

That's all right then as I never spend more than £10 anywhere.

My DIL last week made some sort of traybake that was peanut butter on the bottom and dark chocolate on top. It was horrible... kept getting in my mouth..... Must ask her for the recipe.

I love most chocolate but I don't like the combination of chocolate and orange (and yet I like chocolate limes  ). Chocolate Brazils are a favourite.

Chocoholics do some good stuff, and if you arrange a party and the rep sells so much, you get a free box of choccies.

For general confectionary, I love Jelly Bellies, especially the chilli and sour ones, and was hoping to buy some last week but, even in MCO's duty free shop, they were fiendishly expensive.

I'm sure I've seen Fry's chocolate cream in Sainsbugs , don't know if they are the original ones though and what about Fry's five centre, I haven't seen those for years I used to love them :D

Pontefract cakes are another, as far as I'm aware they still make them but I don't recall seeing them in recent years , another of my favourites

Anyway, welcome back Alan did you have a nice holiday
