We normally get the 7ft falsie tree out each year. Which to be honest was a bargain buy when we brought it several years ago and is still going strong. But we thought we would go mad this year and go for a real one, plus I won't have to faff about getting the falsie out the loft and assemble it.

I'm hoping to get at least ten Christmases out of the real one. I'll just keep cutting it back with the bow saw :D

We, along with most of our village, have a small outside tree, above the front door in a bracket. Our son-in-law kindly collected the tree last night for us, as well as his own - they live next door - and the put it up. Only thing is he didn't put the lights on and I don't think it's going to be possible to put lights on a tree that's half way up a wall and out at an angle - so it will probably have to come down again.

My husband is at the moment starting on renovating his Rotary Club's Christmas Sleigh - he does this each year and then it goes to to static collections like outside Sainsbury for example. They used to do street collections with one of the members dressed as Father Christmas on the sleigh and they used to give local children sweets. However, Health and Safety stepped in. No Father Christmas riding on the sleigh - too dangerous - and no sweets for the children - they may choke on one!

I wanted to go and choose our tree today - it will sit outside in a bucket till next weekend - but I think I'm going to have to choose my moment to suggest it, judging from the mutterings coming from outside!

Ours went up this afternoon. After several turns of the tree and some herrumphs from me, the Royal WE have finally settled it in the position it originally was!! I'm saying nothing :silent:

Finally put the tree up and put lights and decorations on it. We put it in the conservatory because the lights reflect in the windows. Just going to look up Gordon Ramsay's cranberry sauce recipe on line but that is on Sue's to do list.

I'll check his recipe out,but I have always used the one from my Good Housekeeping Cook Book which I've had for over 40 years.

Well Halloween is over....Christmas Carols playing in the shops now...and I need more lights!!!
Bit of a change this year in the back room, which has become my "garden room"
So instead on a big tree in the corner..I have two 7 foot, artificial fig tress, next to the French doors , which I will be decorating with lots and lots of tiny lights and white and silver bits and bobs. The colour theme will be kept in the whole room.
The original tree out of this room is quite new so it will find a new home around the house somewhere..
Hmmmmm that 6 indoor trees now... :eh:
Sooo excited!!!!

That sounds lovely, Sue, tasteful but still festive.

I am planning an 8-9' tree in the conservatory - it will mean switching off the underfloor heating for a few weeks but so be it, I can swit h on a radiator. Then a 7' artificial tree in the sitting room and a smaller one in the dining room. Mainly they are dressed in various shades of purple, and gold. But I think next year I shall change the colour scheme of at least one of them.

I have already bought lots of new garlands this year for the pictures and mirrors - can't wait to put everything up!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS YES OR NO?

Mmmmm. Do I or don't I......Oh s*d it, let's go mad.

I think I might put the candles away and put the lights on this year, the normal house lights not those coloured things. Just for an hour mind, and Christmas evening only
