We went to see "Last Vegas" last night. It was a laugh-out-loud film in several places. Great casting and decent performances... story wasn't the most deep, but was a vehicle for loads of age-related gags.

sorry dk,

the way I read it was the tiger was the cook on the ship, the survivors on the lifeboat consisted of pi, his mother and various crew members, who pi likened to animals as he could not face the fact that they had attacked and eaten each other when starvation had set in. so to keep his sanity he had to think of them as animals. the urangutan was his mother whom he protected from being eaten.

just the way I saw the story, I will have to watch it again now :wtf:
regards gilly.

I wish I'd known that before I went to see the film. Not ashmed to say it was lost on me but then, I'm one of those who goes just to be entertained and not have to think too much otherwise it's 40 zzzz's time.

We saw 12 Years a Slave and whilst it was a good film you hardly came out of it with a feel good factor. Don't go if you're feeling depressed.

We also saw The Monuments Men. It's what I would call an OK film - nothing outstanding but holds the attention - just.

Look out for The Angel's Share. Really funny. A bit of swearing but still good fun.

We watched All is Lost whilst onboard Azura recently. Only one actor throughout - Robert Redford. Hardly any speech, just Bobby endeavouring to survive. There's several bits which are incorrect, but even knowing that it didn't detract the overall feel of the film. Captainesse Black did admit to nodding off twice!!, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Chef. An absolute gem and really lives up to its 'feel good' tag.

I love the Boat that Rocked Stephen, the soundtrack is awesome and its so hilarious! I've met the young lad in it too coz I've seen him in a couple of plays in London! Ever such a nice guy!

Sooo my recent favourite is Wolf of Wall Street - anyone else seen it? I didn't think I'd like it to be honest but its actually a really good film if you don't mind a lot of sex, swearing and drug taking LOL!

Went to see Cinderella yesterday with my granddaughters - loved it - some top notch actors in it - Derek Jacobi, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and the beautiful Lily James from Downton Abbey in the leading role. Didn't realise until the credits came up at the end that Kenneth Branagh was the producer. The costumes were amazing as were the special effects and the music and no unnecessary swearing or violence

Thoroughly recommend if you want to be a child again and enjoy two hours of sheer escapism :)

We enjoyed the Theory of Everything. Eddie Redmayne's Oscar was well deserved.

The Usual Suspects.

An old film but if you have never seen it you must. You must watch and take note of everything, Ok lots of deaths, but the story is good.

We went to see Woman in Gold with Helen Mirren. I must admit I went under sufferance but enjoyed the film which was much better than I thought it would be.

We also went to the cinema when Shades of Grey was on. There were three screens showing it but there were plenty of seats for our film - Shaun the Sheep. I do enjoy the Ardman films and the succinct touches of humour. It was alright I suppose, not as good as the Wallace & Gromitt offerings but we were kept amused by the running commentary from the 3-4 year old sat next to us!!! Indeed, we live life in the fast lane!!
