Thank god we have not got the room for them to move in with us, when our daughter had a loft conversion, she had to live round it whilst the work was being done, the same as we did when had a new kitchen and central heating fitted just after we first moved in.

Our son is now talking of changing his dining room to his kitchen and the kitchen to the dining room, which involves the removing of walls and replacing doors and windows, plus all new cabinets, thankfully he knows there is no room in the Inn here. :D

Derek, we had a loft conversion in this house, new central heating installed etc. when we first moved in.
Alex was working in South Africa then and I had the 3 kids and stayed in the house!!

I didnt offer for them to stay here, they asked....and I have the room...so I couldnt really refuse :(
Its been a bit stressful to say the least.

I know people who moved into a smaller place the moment their offspring left home.

We thought about it, but then wouldn't have space when all the grandchildren come to stay!!!
In fact we are waiting for bunk beds to be delivered as we don't have enough beds for them all!!
Talked this morning, about a much bigger sandpit for them and should we get a two storey playhouse to replace the single storey one we have...lolol
Ohhh and should some of it be painted pink as we have a granddaughter now...

Congratulations, Sue. We have 7 grandchildren, our son has 4 and lives nearby but our daughter has 3 and we need the beds for when she comes to stay. She's in the process of moving back near to us so Hotel Grandma will soon have vacancies.

Both our children live within about 10 minutes of our home, our son and DIL do not have any children, just two large dogs, their home is 10 minutes away by car. Our daughter on the other hand has 3 children, all born whilst we have been living in this Bungalow, but not here, the eldest being 14 years old.

I asked Lorraine tonight if our grandchildren have ever stayed with us over night, and she could not think of any occasion where they had. Lorraine has often baby sat our grandchildren over the years, and still does, as our daughters home is only 10 minutes walk away, she goes round there to baby sit, that way the children sleep in their own beds and any mess they make is in their own home.

The same with our sons two dogs, if our son and DIL go away for a weekend etc, then Lorraine will go round their home and stay there over night.

One of the advantages of living in a bungalow :)

The last lot of work we had done at our Bungalow, fitting a new bathroom, we got our son (he is a builder) to do whilst we were away on holiday. :D

Our son moved out when he got married before we had this bungalow, when his marriage broke down, after we had moved here, he moved back in. Thankfully he has married again and got his own house. :)

We will 7 very soon... :D congratulations to you too!!
I love them all to bits, but can be quite tiring being a full time nana. (Child care etc)
Feel blessed most of the time, knackered the rest of it!!!

I babysat last week (school night) at my sons house for his three, and felt like a real nana.
I must admit when they are all sleeping at mine I feel like Im "Walton" nana..
Night Oliver..night nana, Night Harry...night nana... Etc...

Hotel Grandma and being like a 'Walton' nana sums it up beautifully.

Tiring but so rewarding. The fact they are your Grandchildren means it is premium time you get to spend with them. The fun you have with them will stay in their minds as they get older. (especially camping Sue.)

They will keep you young at heart for years to come. So special.

Ohhhh I do love being with them. Special indeed. Xxx
Picked up eldest grandson from school today, the look on his face when he saw it was me , was worth all my aches and pains. He said, " Iv missed you nana" and give me a big hug.
( only saw him on Saturday..lol)
Andrea, we took the three eldest away (3,3 and 5) in a motor home last year..., they still keep talking about it. Thinking about doing it again this year..but that's as near to camping as I will get!!

I am visiting my son and this afternoon I picked up my granddaughters from school and as you say Sue the reaction was wonderful - they are so affectionate - there is nothing quite like it

Those of you with grand children are so lucky, cherish the times - though I know you do. :)

We pick our youngest granddaughter up twice a week from school, the other two are old enough to make their own way home from school

Although today we are going to pick up our eleven years old up, she has been away for a few days with the school by coach, so we are going to meet the coach at 4 pm to help with her luggage.
